In 1969 the federal government made the house a
national historic site.

• The house was built in 1841.
• Mr. Taft lived there from 1857-1874.

Taft Museum National Historic Site

• It was the boyhood home of the 27th president
  and 10th Chief Justice of the United States.
• Mr. Taft played baseball for fun and was a good
  hitter but a very slow runner.

What I enjoyed most about my landmark

• There is a website about William Howard Taft and
  you can win a certificate and a pin.
• I also enjoyed all the rooms and the cool
  furniture.

Other Interesting Details

• It was one of the first houses to have indoor
  plumbing and hot water.
• The family 4 servants. The nanny had to sleep
  with the kids in the nursery.
• On evenings the family sat in the library.
