3
Introduction to my collection
I started collecting comic books over ten years
ago. After a long hiatus, I began to accumulate
more comics about two years ago.
My collection holds close to a thousand comics.

Comics I Own
I currently own 903 comic books.
The majority of these are published by two
companies, DC and Marvel. Most of these are the
superhero genre of comic.

Some of the more popular comic series are those
which feature the character Batman.

ive Comics. Several dozen comics from Batman mini

of my collection. The X-Men have many different s

Special Titles
My collection is not random I search for
specific comics to add. In some cases I search fo
r every issue of a specific title.
I also hunt for every issue featuring a specific
character. These form the majority of my collecti
on.
10
One such title is the series Excalibur.
This series was published from 1988 to 1998.
It featured a superhero team based in the UK.
11
Excalibur was one of the first comics I began
collecting. I started collecting with issue 95,
over ten years ago. I now own almost every appear
ance of the Excalibur characters.
This includes all 125 issues of the series!
12
Another title is the series Alpha Flight.
This series was published from 1983 to 1994.
Its superhero team was based in Canada.
13
I started collecting Alpha Flight only while
doing a school research paper on one of the main
characters, Northstar. I am in the process of buy
ing all 130 issues of the series.
I currently own 68 issues.
14
Collection Statistics
Beyond just collecting, I often compile several
statistics on my collection. These statistics de
al with several things How many issues in a seri
es I own. The number of titles I own from a certa
in publisher. The amount of money I have spent on
comics.
15
Most of these statistics are contained in various
spreadsheets where I can organize the data.
One example of these spreadsheets are below.
16
I also compile statistics on how many issues of a
series I own.
17
Additionally, I create statistics on appearances
of favorite characters. (yes, I know that I am a
dork.) Below is one example with a character, Vi
ctor.
18
Collection Statistics
I am still in the process of compiling statistics
on other aspects of my collection.
One area I still need to calculate is how much
money I have spent on comics. My estimates, howev
er, put this number at close to 1000 dollars.
19
Summary
My comic book collection is very large, at over
900 different issues. This collection is very div
erse, with many different titles by different
publishers, including DC and Marvel.
I own many issues of specific series or
characters, such as Batman or Excalibur.
20
Summary
I use spreadsheets to organize my collection and
create statistics based on the comics.
My collection is contained in seven separate
boxes, and so a computer makes organization much
easier. These statistics include percentages of w
hich series I own, the comic publishers, and
appearances of specific characters.
