eDiam process-contract chain management for
diamond processing

• Diamond processing Industry
• Diamond processing industry, in India, imported
  rough diamonds worth Rs. 26,000 Crores ( 5.5
  Billion) and exported gem diamonds worth Rs.
  31,000 Crores ( 6.5 Billion) in FY 2002-3.
• The process of converting diamonds from rough
  to gem is highly labour intensive and involves
  a chain of contracts and sub contracts.
• Material processed is very expensive (Rs. 20,000
  to Rs 80,000 per gram in rough to gem form), so a
  complex system of tracking, follow up, costing
  and contractors performance evaluation is
  required.
