Where Colombia is located

Colombia is located on the northern part of South
America. The countries on its borders are
Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela.

Geographic Features of Colombia

Columbia has the Andes Mountains taking up a
large portion of the country. It also has its
borders to the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea

Climate of Colombia

The typical temperature in Colombia is from the
50s to 70s year round. It also rains a lot,
usually between 7 to 20 days a month!

Environment of Colombia

Columbia claims to have more animals per square
unit of area than any other country in the world.
East of the Andes they have rainforests with
many different species of plants and animals.
Some of these native animals include jaguars,
ocelots, peccaries, tapirs, deer, armadillo, many
kinds of monkeys and a extremely rare Spectral
bear. They also have almost 2000 species of
birds and over 130,000 types of plant life
growing in Colombia.

Museums

Colombia has may museums. One museum located in
Bogota Colombia in Santander Park, is Mueso del
Oro of the Banco de la Republica. Another museum
located in Bogota is Museo Nacional de Colombia.

Customs and Traditions
One celebration celebrated in Colombia is Virgin
of La Candelaria (Candlemas). This is when
hundreds of people carry lighted candles and
climb up to the church Santa Cruz on La Popa hill
in Cartagena to the statue of Virgin, to pray.
This celebration takes place on February 2nd.
Another celebration that takes place in Colombia
is the festival that celebrates theater. This
celebration is called Festival Iberoamericano and
takes place in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

Monuments
There are many old and important monuments in
Colombia. One very important monument is a place
to pray, a place for celebration. This monument
is the statue of Virgin, located in the church
Santa Cruz in Cartagena on La Popa hill. Another
monument in Colombia is located in San Agustin
which is Megalithic Monuments. Lastly, another
wonderful place to visit while visiting Colombia
is the sculpture Retablo.

There are many wonderful place to stay while
visiting Colombia, no matter the price. One place
to stay in Bogota Colombia is Dann Norte Hotel
for only 40.00 per night. Another hotel located
in Bogota is a medium priced hotel, La Bohem
Hotel, for just 99.00 per night. Lastly, a
little more pricey hotel is Sofitel Bogota
Victoria Regia for 161.00 per night

Tourism

is a beautiful place to explore . In Sierra
Nevada de Santa Marta in Cordillera Central,
where the highest costal mountain ranges of
Colombia are found, is a great place to backpack
and visit.
Another wonderful place to visit in Colombia is
the Archaeology Park in San Agustin.
A last place you should visit in Colombia is
Barrio La Candelaria. This area in located in the
capital of Colombia, Bogota, and is where the
city was originally founded.
