• My family is special,
• like others too
• Dominican
• American
• You might say desperate

• We came from that charging plane of esperanza
• Looking for a better tomorrow

• My mom as a young lady,
• Left the Azul of Santo Domingo
• For better education
• For herself
• For her kids

• Ven, joven, her destiny called
• She set out from her serene home of Santo Domingo
• For la gris manana.
• She lived in an apartment old, dirty,
• Feeling alone

• But did she give up?No!
• She struggled
• Hopeful that la gris manana would depart
• Become la vida paraiso

• She washed dishes
• Earned dinero
• Now, until this day,
• She is not lonely
• In America anymore
• Bien, joven.Lo iciste,
• Her destiny spoke
• And if she misses that isla
• Azul de paraiso,she is free to return
• For both countries are her home
