Title: Uknowme Browne James Brown

1
Uknowme Browne-James Brown
When I first began thinking of doing serious art
back in the 1970s, I was influenced by
two German artists, Christian Kowalewsky and Max
Ackermann, one of whom I knew personally in
Berlin. Their forms and colors spoke to me.
Since then, color and form is important to me,
especially When it can occur in three
dimensional objects like macramé, coiling and
ceramics. Working with my hands. Lets me feel
the art while I envision the colors and the form
together. Working with several different mediums
gives me the power to express what I like to do,
work with my hands. When people view my work,
they have the opportunity to experience color in
abstraction I relation to the reality it
represents. I do however, like to mimic the
aesthetics of ancient arts and cultures.

Background
  • Born February 23, 1953 and raised in San Antonio,
    Texas, Uknowme Browne-James Brown spent
twenty-four years in Berlin, Germany, while
serving in the military. During his tour of duty
he was accepted by the American Art Guild and
taught macramé as an instructor in the Art
Guilds Art Against Drugs Program at the U.S
    Army Hospital Berlin Rehabilitation Center.
  • Macramé is always his first love when it comes to
art, creating beautiful lamps, plant hangers, and
wall tapestries. After returning to the United
States in 1998, he began to introduce himself to
a second love, water color and oil pastel
drawings. The passion for his new found love is
evident in his wonderful abstracts with vibrant
colors and imaginative expressions that tell a
story about a time in his life. His works are
complimented by all who love and appreciate his
    endeavors.
  • He has studied at the San Antonio College, Texas
  • University of Maryland-Berlin Campus
  • Currently studying art at Front Range Community
    College, Longmont
  • Attending University of Colorado in Spring of
    2007
