Conclusions
  • The palladium membrane is stable under N2
    pressure of 40 bar at 500 ?C.
  • The H2 permeance of Pd membranes on glazed
    supports is generally above 710-6 mol/m2?s?Pa at
    500 ?C and the H2/N2 selectivity better than
    20000 at 1 bar pressure difference.
  • Pd membranes with ECN sealing show a H2 permeance
    of 2 to 610-6 mol/m2?s?Pa at 500 ?C with ideal
    H2/N2 selectivities better than 2000.
  • The H2 purity in the permeate stays above 99.8
    and the N2 flux below 210-9 mol/m2?s?Pa while
    operating a Pd membrane for 500 h between 140-450
    ?C in a 31 H2/N2 mixture at 16 bar total
    pressure.
