• Students will make a list of 3 objects and 3
  themes.

Composer Deco27

• Deco27 was born on December 16th, 1986 and began
  his music career as a VOCALOID producer in 2008.
  He soon became well-known when his first song
  suddenly gained over 100,000 views. He continued
  his use of VOCALOID and in 2010 showcased his
  first song that used human vocals which was
  called Love-Lost Elegy and was sung by the
  vocalist marina. He continued to use her and
  other vocalists, Topi and Kou Shibasaki, along
  with VOCALOIDs in his songs. In late 2011, he
  formed a group called Galaxias! with Teddyloid, a
  composer for a popular anime, and Kou Shibasaki,
  a popular singer and actress.

Summary

• Students will watch and listen to an English
  cover of DECO27s Egomama. It includes a
  metaphor that relates to the theme of love in the
  song. This will help them get an idea for what
  they need to do for their writing prompt.

Interpretation

• The video shows the opposing aggressive and
  gentle actions in a relationship and the
  struggles that are involved to keep a
  relationship together. Just one of the themes in
  this song is love and the cards and poker chips
  are a metaphor to show how love can be a gamble.
  Many music videos are written to be metaphors and
  represent the bigger picture.

Writing Prompt

• Students will choose one object and one theme to
  create a metaphor. The metaphor will then be used
  to write a description for an original music
  video along with the concept of that video. The
  music can be a copyrighted song so long as the
  video idea is original. They will have around
  10-15 minutes.

• Students will share their video description and
  if they do they will receive a piece of candy.

• As everyone passes their papers to the front,
  komans arrangement of Deco27s Mozaik Role
  will be playing.
