2Stok Palace Museum
Village of Stok
Located within the Stok Monastery, the palace
museum houses some rare 16th century artifacts,
royal crowns, jewelry, gemstones, and royal
primogenitures.
You'll also witness the Thangkas, illustrations
of Buddha's living, crafted using paints made
from crushed gemstones, supposedly ruby,
sapphire, and emerald.
3The Leh Palace
Built in the 17th century, the dilapidated nine
storied Leh Palace radiates the essence of
Tibetan architecture, and houses old majestic
paintings, murals, ceremonial dresses and
traditional outfits.
The lanscape offers cleansing views of the Ladakh
mountain ranges, the Zangskar, and Stok Kangri
across the Indus Valley.
4Zorawar Fort
Zorawar Fort stands just above the Leh Royal
Palace, overlooking the valley of Leh.
Also known as Riasi Fort, the ancient monument is
in ruins as of today, and houses splendid
collection of coins and stamps.
This place is for those who have deep interest in
history, ancient artifacts, and olden cultures.
5Sankoo
Situated at about 42 kms south of Kargil, it's a
bowl-shaped valley, boundried by rocky mountains.
The young town houses a small bazaar, dense
plantations of wild roses, willows, poplars, and
lush-green barley fields, offering a divine sight.
There are several isolated villages nearby.
6The Magnetic Hill
11,000 feet
Situated at about 50km from Leh, this hill is
believed to have magnetic properties, it tends to
pull cars uphill.
Aircrafts passing by increase their altitude to
escape interference in flight. In real, it's
merely an optical illusion, and there is no
magnetic disturbance.
