About Akhilesh Das Gupta

• Dr. Akhilesh Das Guptaa dynamic personalit,
  carries vast experience as the Mayor of
  Lucknow as well as a Union Minister, Government
  of India.He is the Member of Parliament and
  represents the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the
  Rajya Sabha.

He joined Bahujan Samaj Party and was elected as
its National General Secretary on the 10th May
2008. On 26th November 2008, he was re-elected to
the Rajya Sabha (Third Term) consecutively. He
has served as Minister of State in the Ministry
of Steel, Govt. of India from 2006 to 2008. Dr.
Gupta is also a member of Department Related
Parliamentary Standing Committee, since 27th
January 2009. He is a distinguished political
leader, philanthropist and an educationist.

Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta has extensive knowledge
about journalism. In 2001, he started publication
of Indian Express (English daily) and Jansatta
Express (Hindi Daily) in collaboration with The
Indian Express Group. He was appointed as the
Chief Editor of Jansatta Express, an Hindi daily,
based from Lucknow in collaboration with Indian
Express and Quami Khabrein an Urdu daily, also
based out of Lucknow..

A respected personality, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta
has traveled extensively to countries such as
U.K., U.S.A., Japan, France, Switzerland,
Portugal etc. He has been in attendance at
several international events such as UNO
sponsored Conference of Mayors at Japan in 1993
and UNCTAD XI Conference at Brazil in 2004. He
attended the International Childrens Games
sponsored by the International Olympic
Association, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in 1994.
