The best way to Prepare Your Car for Winter

  • Australia is a rather large country with varying
climates. For those located in the Southwest, the
weeks leading to winter is a time to prepare for
the unexpected. weatherproofing your home would
be a wise decision. However, your car should get
a lot of consideration as well to make traveling
for you a comfortable cold climate experience.
What's worse than getting car hassle midway to
your destination? Getting car trouble midway to
your desired destination in cold weather. Here
are a couple great ideas to prepare your car for
    the winter

3
1. Check the status of your car's battery. 1.
Check the condition of your car's battery.
  • Lead acid Battery packs have an working
temperature range for them to function
effectively. When the temperature drops, your car
motor would usually crank more slowly because the
battery is reduce in creating the electrons
required that fuels the starter motor of your
automobile. batteries work via chemical reactions
taking place within it, and these reactions are
affected by cold weather. If your battery is
nearing the end of its useful life (3-5 years),
and you feel that your motor is getting a bit to
come to a roaring start, consider changing your
old battery with a new one. Even if you're
battery is old or new, though, you should check
if the terminals are free from accrued sulfur,
which is the byproduct of the battery's chemical
processes. Sulfur deposits may bring about
insufficient voltage for the electrical systems
    of the car.

2. Examine your tires for wear.
  • Cool weather affects tires, too, leading to low
tire pressure. Have them checked at your common
petrol station or by a tire supplier.
Under-inflated tires contribute to reduce fuel
consumption and lesser road traction. Be aware
that during cold weather wet driving conditions
may be the norm therefore you need your tires to
be in great condition to avoid slipping off the
road, which is, of course, not good for you or
    your passengers.

3. Change worn-out windshield wipers.
  • Windshield wiper blades are intended to be
changed, at the very least, once every year. Just
like your tires, wiper blades are manufactured
from rubber which means they get worn out.
Worn-out wipers don't make contact with the
windshield. You may see them move the normal way,
but the water it's meant to wipe away will stay
on. Chipped, uneven wipers are even worse
instead of wiping away rain water cleanly, the
uneven surface leaves dirty lines on the glass
(rainwater dust mud). You don't want to drive
    with that on your windshield.

4. Improve your road emergency equipment.
  • In addition to your standard hassle shooting kit,
you might want some extra emergency things
helpful in your car during winter weather. Some
warm clothing, for commencers, should be stashed
somewhere in the cabin if you are forced to
spend a chilly evening in a damaged down car
beside the road, you will need it. A blanket
would also be a good idea. If you don't have a
flashlight yet, make sure to buy one and place it
inside the glove compartment. ensure that your
mobile phone's car adapter is onboard at all
times, especially during the winter season.
