Trina Cofield is also a well-respected member of
National Medical Association- the oldest and
largest national organization that represents
African American physicians and their patients in
the U.S. As a national professional and
scientific organization, NMA emphasizes enhancing
the quality of health among minorities through
its community health education, membership,
professional development, research and
partnership with federal and private agencies. It
promotes collective interests of patients and
physicians of African descent and has served as
conscience of medical profession since its
inception.

Trina Cofield is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa
honor society- an academic society that strives
to fulfill its mission of advocating excellence
in the liberal arts and sciences. The society
funds numerous fellowships, academic awards and
visiting scholar programs. Its three book awards
are the Phi Beta Kappa award in Science, the
Christian Gauss Award, and the Ralph Waldo
Emerson Award. .
