1
The History Of Aeropostale
  • By Jessica Gray

2
Aeros Location
  • Aeropostale is a teen based clothing store also
    known as Aero.
  • There are over 700 Aeropostale stores in the U.S.
    and Canada.
  • The annual Revenue in 2007 was 1.5 billion.

3
  • Established in 1987, which is why all the shirts
    say 87 on them.
  • The First store was opened in New York.
  • The name comes from a Latin-American Airmail firm
    called Campagnie Generale Aeropostale.

4
Aeros Competition
  • It is usually found in malls, and it markets
14-17 year old boys and girls.
  • The store, JimmyZ Surf Co., is branched off of
    Aeropostale.
  • It is also the third largest retailer to the teen
    demographic, just behind American Eagle
    Outfitters and Abercrombie Fitch.

5
  • The brand, Aeropostale, was introduced by Macys.
At first, it only sold Mens clothes, but has
since then evolved into selling men and womens
    clothes.
  • The stores have recently been updated to have a
    west coast surfer look.

6
  • The store began having promotions because it did
a great job advertising the store.
  • Examples
  • selling the Fall Out Boy album with an
    exclusive t-shirt
  • giving a beach towel with a fifty dollar
    purchase
  • giving a holiday stuffed bear with 100
    purchases

7
  • Aeropostale has been opening other concepts to
help bring income and to stay up with its
    competitors.
  • Examples
  • JimmyZ Surf Co.
  • Kids Aeropostale
  • A new one coming in 2009.

8
  • R.H. Macy Co., Inc., Introduced Aeropostale as
    a private label.
  • The format of the store used to be airplanes and
aviation, but then it lost style so they changed
the theme to a surfer look.

9
  • Aeropostale usually puts its store near places
teenagers are likely to hang around. Such as food
    courts and music stores.
