  • 12.51 billion total global sales for the month,
    as compared to 10.6 billion in November 2001
  • 0.5 in MicroProcessor Sales
  • 5.8 in DRAM Sales
  • 6.6 in Flash Memory
  • 3.7 in Digital Signal Processors
  • U.S. sales declined -0.8 to 2.63 billion for
    Nov.
  • Japanese sales declined -0.6 to 2.83 billion
    for Nov.
  • European sales increased 5.8 to 2.6 billion
    for Nov.
  • Asia-Pacific sales increased 1.3 to 4.62
    billion for Nov.

Looking to the Future
  • Further industry recovery is expected for 2003
    growth could range from 15-20 globally
  • Predicted total global sales of 171.8 billion
    for 2003

  • Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) predicts
    another large global recovery in 2004, with an
    estimated increase in sales of 16.6, followed by
    a drop-off in sales expansion the following year

The Asian Phenomenon
  • The semiconductor has exploded onto the scene in
    the Asia-Pacific region since 2001s slump.
  • In 2001, Asian sales constituted 29 of global
    sales
  • In 2002, Asian sales were up to 37 of global
    sales
  • Asian market growth is predicted at 21.6 for
    2003, and
    to ultimately arrive at 66 billion
  • Reasons for this drastic increase include
  • U.S. manufacturing moving to Asia
  • Asian economies are the strongest-growing in the
    world
