5
Drugs Methods Used
  • Banned Substances
  • Anabolic Steroids Increase muscle mass and
    performance, synthetic version of testosterone,
more frequent training at higher intensity with
    rapid recuperation
  • Types oral, injectables, gels, patches, nasal
    sprays
  • Diuretics Increase urine flow, promote the
removal of excess water, salt, poisons, and
    accumulated metabolic products, sloughing of
    intestinal lining

Drugs Methods Used (Continued)
  • Banned Substances
  • Peptide hormones stimulate growth, increases
    muscle mass
  • Beta Blocker regulates energy stores so there is
a spike in energy right before competition
  • Banned Methods
  • Blood Doping enhances performance by increasing
RBC mass to deliver more oxygen to muscles
  • EPO undetectable, genetically engineered to
stimulate bone marrow to make RBCs.

    clotting
  • Beta Blockers

  • Increased blood viscosity, decreased cardiac
    output, reduced aerobic capacity
