Title: How to Be a Soul Winner

1
How to Be a Soul Winner
  • He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing
precious seed, shall doubtless come again with
rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
  • Psalm 1266

2
The Urgency of Soul Winning
  • Could a mariner sit idle if he heard the
    drowning cry?
  • Could a doctor sit in comfort and just let his
    patients die?
  • Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give
    no hand?
  • Can you sit at ease in Zion with the world
    around you DAMNED?
  • - Leonard Ravenhill

3
Soul Winning is Witnessing
  • A witness is a person who tells something that he
    or she saw and knows.
  • The purpose of our witness to bring people to
    Jesus

A true witness delivers souls (Proverbs 1425)
4
Soul Winning is Introducing People to a Person
  • In a way . . . introducing Christ to a person is
the same as any other introduction.

5
Soul Winning is Planting and Harvesting
  • In the Parable of the Sower, the Seed is the Word
    of God.
  • Some of the Seed grew some didnt.
  • The sower was always the same.
  • The Seed was the same.
  • The ground where it was planted varied.

6
Why God Wants You to Be a Soul Winner
God commands it
  • And he said unto them, Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 1615)
  • But ye shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to
Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the earth. (Acts 18)
  • A true witness delivers souls (Proverbs 1425)

7
Why God Wants You to Be a Soul Winner
  • People are going to Hell without Jesus
  • If your neighbors house was on fire, wouldnt
    you try to save them?
  • Why would you do any less for the people who are
    going to Hell?

8
The Dynamics of Soul Winning
  • I have planted, Apollos watered but God gave the
increase . . . For we are laborers together with
    God.
  • (1 Corinthians 36, 9)
  • One or more people can be used of God to witness
    to a person
  • Another soul winner can harvest
  • God is the One Who gets it done!

  • D. L. Moody ?
  • F. B. Meyer ?
  • J. Wilbur Chapman?
  • Billy Sunday?
  • Mordecai Ham?
  • Billy Graham

10
How to Make Soul Winning Part of Your Christian
Life
  • Make a list of people you are concerned about
  • Pray every day for them to get saved
  • Invite them to an evangelistic event
  • Have them over for coffee or dinner if you can

11
You Can Be a Soul Winner!
  • He said,
  • Bob, God will give you souls. You just have to
    want them badly enough.

12
How to Mark Your Bible
Just as a chef needs to sharpen his knives, you
need to sharpen your Sword in order to use it
effectively.
  • Draw a red box around 1 John 513
  • In the margin next to the verse write Romans
    310
  • Draw a red box around Romans 310 and write
323 in the margin next to the verse.
  • Use this procedure for all the verses in the
    presentation.
  • Presentation Scriptures
  • 1 John 513
  • Romans 310, 23
  • Romans 623
  • Romans 58
  • 2 Corinthians 521
  • Romans 109-10
  • Romans 1013

13
How to Explain the Gospel Clearly
  • Dont assume the person is a Christian.
  • Use words the lost person understands and would
    likely be comfortable with.
  • Point out the verses in your marked Bible.
  • Remember your job isnt merely totell the
Gospel but to help the person understand
theGood News and make a decision for Christ.

14
X-Ray Question 1
  • If you were to die tonight, do you know for sure
that you would go to Heaven?

If they answer No, they are either lost,
backslidden or misguided. If they answer Yes,
they may or may not be saved. Regardless of how
they answer, go on to Question 2. Our job is
not to judge people, but, like a doctor, to
diagnose people so we can determine how to help
them.
15
X-Ray Question 2
  • Suppose you did die tonight, and God asked you,
Why should I let you into My Heaven? What
    would you tell Him?

Their answer to this question will tell you a lot
about their spiritual Condition. Their answer
will fall into one of two categories WORKS or
GRACE
16
The Promise
  • 1 John 513These things I have written to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God, that
you may know that you have eternal life, and that
you may continue to believe in the name of the
    Son of God.
  • Important Truths
  • You can have eternal life.
  • You can have it now (you dont have to wait until
you get to Heaven to get it).
  • You can know that you have it.

17
The Problem
  • Romans 310 As it is written There is none
    righteous, no, not one
  • Romans 323For all have sinned and fall short of
    the glory of God
  • That means Im a sinner, doesnt it?
  • The problem is, no oneincluding you and
    medeserves to go to Heaven.
  • Everybody- including you and me- is guilty before
    God.

18
The Effect of Sin
  • Suppose you had a 10-gallon jug of clean water.
  • Someone put 1 drop of poison into it. Would you
    drink it?
  • Sin is like poison. One drop can pollute us and
    make us unfit for Heaven.

The next verse Im going to show you has some bad
news and some good news. Im going to show you
the bad news first.
19
The Condemnation
  • Romans 623a For the wages of sin is death . . .
  • Wagesthats Payday. Work for a week and you get
wages for your work. Live a lifetime as a sinner
and your payday is death. Not just death of the
body, but eternal death of your soul in judgment
    for your sin.

20
The Gift
  • Romans 623b. . . but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • The Good News is that God provided the Remedy for
    your sins.
  • If I were to offer you a gift, would you have to
work for it, or pay me for it?
  • What do you have to do to receive a gift?
  • If you didnt take the gift, would you have it?
  • Eternal life is a Gift from God. He paid for it.
But if you never take it, you will never have it.

21
Gods Love for You
  • Romans 58 But God demonstrates his own love
toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
    Christ died for us.
  • What was the wages of sin? Death. What did Jesus
do for you? He died. He took your punishment for
    your sins.
  • How many people do you know who love you enough
that they would die for you?
  • Thats how much Jesus loves you. He died for you.

22
Gods Perfect Substitute
  • 2 Corinthians 521For He made Him who knew no
sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
    righteousness of God in Him.
  • Jesus took the punishment that you and I deserve
so we could go to Heaven.

You Jesus
Sin Lie Deceit Perfect Righteous Holy
23
Believe in Your Heart
  • Romans 109-10that if you confess with your
mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead, you will
be saved. For with the heart one believes to
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is
    made to salvation.
  • Believe not enough to believe the facts about
Jesus. Trust Him to save you.

24
The Invitation
  • (Rom 1013) For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved.
  • Does this make sense to you?
  • Would you like for us to bow our heads together
while you let God know you want to receive the
Lord Jesus as your personal Savior?

25
How to Draw the Net
  • Is there any reason why you would not want to
    receive Christ now?

26
AssuranceWhere Is Jesus Right Now?
  • How do you know He is in your heart?
  • Did He promise to come in?
  • Would He lie to you?
  • If everything goes wrong tomorrow, and you dont
feel like He is still there, is He still in your
    heart?
  • How do you know?

27
Happy Birthday
Remember todays date and write it in your
Bible. The Bible says that you are Born Again
when Jesus comes into your life. Being born
again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth
and abideth for ever. (1 Pe 123)
28
Read the Bible andPray Every Day
  • The Bible is how God talks to you.
  • Start with the Gospel of John
  • Read through to the end of the New Testament
  • Then start with Matthew and read the New
    Testament again.
  • Read 3 chapters a day and you will read the New
    Testament in 3 months.
  • Prayer is how you talk to God.
  • Adore
  • Confess
  • Thankgiving
  • Supplication
  • Prayer, in a very real sense, is asking God and
    receiving from Him.

29
Get Involved in Church
  • Why?
  • Obey God
  • Learn the Bible
  • Encouragement
  • Fellowship
  • Worship
  • Forsake not the assembling of yourselves
  • (Hebrews 725)

30
Confess Christ Publicly
  • Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I
will confess before my Father who is in heaven.
  • (Matthew 1032)

31
Baptism
  • Get baptized as soon as possible
  • Baptism is like putting on the wedding ring. It
identifies what you have done. Of course, it
doesnt save you any more than a ring marries
you. Baptism is important as a first step of
    obedience, though.

32
Tell Others About Jesus
  • Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.
  • (Matthew 419)

33
How to Handle Questions and Objections
  • Be confident
  • There are only a few objections that people
raise. Youll hear the same ones over and over.
  • Dont let them get you off track
  • Thats a great question. Can I address that in a
    minute?
  • Compliment them
  • If you dont know the answer, dont panic.
  • Tell them youll find out and get back to them.
  • This will give you another chance to reach them
if they dont receive Christ when are talking to
    them now.
