HRValue Groups Management Training
This dynamic management development series is an
effective way to promote and keep confident,
committed managers. They learn or update valuable
skills in leadership, performance management,
recruitment, communication, coaching and
mentoring, employment compliance, succession
planning and team development. This training is
delivered by seasoned professionals, each with
over ten years of management experience, who
understand the challenges managers face and can
provide practical advice participants can use.
They work with you to incorporate your policies
and practices into each workshop. This ensures
the content is relevant to participants and
consistent with the direction of your
organization. HRVG also offers a confidential,
on-line pre and post training needs assessment
tool. This tool objectively measures and
prioritizes the learning needs of managers and
supervisors, ensuring the training meets their
specific needs. When the assessment tool is
administered after the training program it can be
used to measure the impact of the training.
Module Descriptions LEADERSHIP Even born
leaders must hone their skills to be effective.
This awareness-building workshop can be designed
for supervisors with limited exposure to
leadership concepts or as a customized refresher
course for more experienced managers. It
provides an overview of the leadership skills and
attributes essential for success. Participants
evaluate their own leadership traits, tendencies
and strengths, and identify strategies for
building on those strengths. Time 3-4
hours PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Most managers list
performance management as one of the most
difficult aspects of their job. It is a challenge
to deliver difficult feedback, remember to give
positive feedback and make timely performance
appraisals. This training module lets managers
test themselves on their skills, knowledge and
commitment to performance management. Built on
the core principles of managing employee
performance effectively, this program also
reinforces the use of locally prescribed
performance management processes and policies.
Participants review tools and techniques to
improve their performance management skills, and
apply basic techniques of goal setting and
feedback delivery. Time 3-4 hours COMMUNICATION
Skilled communication is essential for
effective leadership. Successful leaders know how
to articulate their vision and, equally
important, they know how to listen. This training
module is designed for managers familiar with the
principles of communication who want to update
their skills. In an interactive session,
participants examine the dynamics of concise,
active communication and how it affects
relationships with their staff and peers. They
learn to recognize listening barriers, practice
new skills and discuss their own communication
challenges. Time 3-4 hours RECRUITMENT AND
HIRING Early steps in the hiring process are
critical to placing the right person in the right
job and avoiding costly mistakes. This
skill-building workshop is designed for
supervisors and HR professionals with limited
experience in recruiting, interviewing and
selecting final job candidates. Participants
learn the employment laws that govern these
selection processes and review locally prescribed
recruiting policies and procedures. An
interactive segment allows them to demonstrate
best practices in preparing for and conducting
interviews. Time 3-4 hours

EFFECTIVE STAFF MEETINGS Staff meetings provide
great opportunities to build teams and strengthen
communication between management and employees.
Unfortunately, these opportunities are often lost

required to lead an effective staff meeting. This

projects and daily interruptions. Time 3-4
hours SUCCESSION PLANNING Who will be my
successor?" "How do I know they have what it
takes?" "How do I groom them to be ready?"
Identifying leadership talent and developing that
talent is a manager's most important duty and
biggest challenge. This workshop is designed for
leaders who have the responsibility of
implementing a succession plan or enhancing their
existing succession program. Participants will
understand the components of a good succession
plan, be exposed to tools that can help predict a
successor's future performance, understand how to
