Common Problems

• These social networking sites are known to be
  very addictive.
• Predators search these sites for young users.
• Cyber bullying is the cause of most altercations
  among the youth.
• Increase of procrastination and carelessness when
  it comes to school work.

The Addictiveness of Social Networking

• The youth are more worried about what is
  happening online.
• They are spending hours in front of a computer
  instead of building face-to-face friendships.
• Social networking has become a compulsive or
  automatic behavior.

Predators

• Websites such as MySpace have become places where
  predators look specifically for children.
• More than 2,600 incidents of adults using these
  social networking sites to entice children.
• One of the main reasons is because the youth is
  very naïve, and give away personal information
  easily.

Cyber Bullying

• Cyber bullying is intending to harm or embarrass
  a peer over the internet.
• 42 of children have been victims of cyber
  bullying.
• 35 have been threatened.
• 58 have not informed their parents of this
  harassment.
• 41 did not even know the identity of the person
  threatening them.

Procrastination

• Instead of doing school work, many students spend
  time on social networking sites.
• Not only does this procrastination effect the
  youth, but a majority of people using social
  networking sites.
