  • According to the US Department of Labor the need

Health Industry Need
  • The amount of five major painkillers sold at
retail establishments rose 90 percent between
1997 and 2005, according to Drug Enforcement
Administration figures. Why? People with cancer
are surviving longer, elderly people are living
    longer (Associated Press).
  • The federal government is predicting a shortage
of close to 1 million nurses in the U.S. by 2020,
according to a report released in July by
    PricewaterhouseCoopers Health Research
Institute. Porter said the projected shortage,
coupled with the aging population of the U.S., is
    a perfect storm.
