2Unit Slideshow
Description During spring 2005, I created a
PowerPoint slideshow to demonstrate to students
how to create a multimedia slideshow.
Analysis Reflection In addition to showing the
presentation on my classroom LCD, I also printed
out handouts for my students. They were able to
use the handout as a secondary model to the
original presentation.
3CTAP Online Posted Lesson
Description In January 2006, I created a
multi-media lesson on Medieval Europe integrating
both English and Social Studies Content Standards.
Analysis Reflection This lesson requires
students to use a variety of technological
resources including EBSCOhost, World Book Online,
the Internet, Microsoft Power Point, and the LCD
Projector. Students will be successful because
the parameters of the assignment are wide enough
to allow for student creativity.
4Information Literacy Resources
Description The objective of this lesson was to
provide students with the resources to create a
bibliography using a variety of resources
including books, EBSCOhost, World Book Online,
and Searchasaurus (Writing 1.5).
Analysis Reflection I created this lesson on
power point to review the various types of
sources used in research. Students were able to
follow along and take notes by using handout
pages of the presentation that I provided.
5Incorporate Information Literacy Skills into
Lesson
Description This lesson was created to give
students an overview of the variety of online/
database information sources that JUSD has
available for student and teacher use (Writing
1.4 -1.6).
Analysis Reflection The power point
presentation reviewed several of the online
resources that are available to students. Using
this presentation, I created slides to
specifically review the search engines, types of
searches, and types of information available.
Students were very successful at retrieving a
variety of information on research topics.
6Technology to Inform Instruction
Description Students were given instructions to
research renaissance era authors using World Book
Online (Writing 1.4 1.6).
Analysis Reflection I first used this sight in
order to model it to students. As my lesson
progressed, my classes and I searched for topics
together, trying to decipher the wealth of
information available.
7Technology to Communicate with Students Parents
Description During an EETT workday, we created
Microsoft Publisher newsletters to send home to
parents. We also changed those newsletters to
HTML text, in order to post to the web.
Analysis Reflection This activity added to my
knowledge of using Publisher. In addition, with
the extra exposure, I feel confident enough to
not only offer parents newsletter publications,
but web pages as well.
8Student Unit Slide Show
- During a classroom science fiction unit, students
were required to create a power point
presentation on The Monsters are Due on Maple
Street, a teleplay written by Rod Serling.
Students used plot elements (Reading 3.2)
including setting, conflict, rising action,
climax, falling action, and resolution to guide
their presentations and demonstrate their
understanding of plot.
9Student Information Literacy Skills
- Students were required to conduct research using
EBSCOhost, World Book Online, library resources,
and the internet to complete a power point
presentation on a famous person from the
Renaissance era for Social Studies. Prior to
beginning the project, students were introduced
to the various types of resources available for
them to use (Writing 1.6, 2.3). All students were
required to cite their sources, including
pictures and a complete bibliography at the end
of the presentation.
10Student Samples Other
- As part of a class persuasive writing assignment
(Writing 2.4), students were required to take on
opposite sides of the school uniforms argument.
Students worked with their desk partners and
after writing their 8 sentence paragraphs,
students created a one-page newsletter to provide
the reader with both sides of the issue.
11Student Samples- Other
- Seventh grade writing standard 2.1 requires
students to write either a fictional or
autobiographical narrative. Students were
required to create a quick publication on
Microsoft Publisher including their picture and
their paragraph. Students inserted their pictures
into the document after having them taken in
class with a digital camera. Pictures were
transferred on to the assignment folder where
students had to find their picture. In addition,
they also had to type their paragraph in
Microsoft Word before inserting it into the
Publisher document.
