8Clicking your Mouse
- Your mouse is used to click and make things
happen! - You should practice using a mouse.
- Playing games like solitaire can help you get
used to a mouse. Most computers have games under
the start button. Ask your mentor to help you
find a game to play after you finish this slide
show.

9Left Click
Also called regular click
This is your left click button.
Put your hand on your mouse so that your index
finger is on the left click button. Click the
button to get the feel of the mouse.
Left clicking one time on an item will highlight
it. You also single click when you are using the
Internet.

10Right Clicking
This is your right click button. Right clicking
gives you the power to work with an object.
Right click on the computer to see some choices
you would have. Left click on the blue background
to return to the slide show.

11More Mouse Magic
You can use your left click button to double
click. Clicking 2 times very quickly lets you
open programs and files.
Anyone who has trouble double clicking can also
left click and then hit the enter key on the
keyboard.

13Windows Desktop
- When you start your computer you will see a
screen that is called the desktop. - The small pictures on it are called icons.
- Each icon would take you to a different program
or file if you double clicked on it.

This is a window. It opens when you click on a
program or folder.
You can move a window by clicking on the top bar
and dragging (holding down your mouse key).

- Also on your desktop you will see folders.
- These hold files.
- You will be using folders.

To close a folder or program you click on the X
in the corner.
To open a folder you double click on it.

- Word processing is somewhat like typing. We use
programs like - Microsoft Word to

This is your menu bar.
These are tool bars. They help you work with your
document.
This is where you type.

Fonts are sets of letters and numbers. You can
choose many different styles of fonts. You will
find these under the format button on your
toolbar. You will practice this later.
20The Internet
You will be using the Internet to do research,
learn more about lesson plan requirements, and
send e-mail.
21Browsers
These are Internet browsers. They let you surf
the net.
To open a browser you double click on it or click
once and hit the enter key.
Try it! Double click on the Netscape Icon. The
browser should open. To return to this slide
show, click the X at the top corner of the
Netscape window.

class. - Classroom management is different from discipline.

Whole group technology connected lessons can be
used with large groups and a computer. A large
screen and projector can help.
Small group technology lessons can be designed as
a single activity for the group or as a
cooperative learning activity.
Individual activities are for one student at a
computer.
