Course Description
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)(6)(iii)
  • Individuals who respond to releases for the
    purpose of stopping the release. They assume a
    more aggressive role in that they will approach
    the release in order to patch, plug and/or stop
    the release. They must show competencies in the
    following areas

Course Objectives
  • At the conclusion of the this Module the Student
    will be able to
  • Know how to implement the employers emergency
    response plan.
  • Know the classification, identification and
    verification of known and unknown materials by
    using field survey instruments and equipment.
  • Be able to function within and assigned role in
    the Incident Command System.
  • Know how to select and use proper specialized
    chemical protective equipment provided to the
    hazardous materials technician.

The requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 are broad and general. This course will use requirements found in NFPA 472 to add specific detail to each module. The requirements in NFPA are hazard based and are meant to apply across all disciplines.
