What is the CDL Program?

• Created in 1974
• Goal to promote and maintain a recognition that
  will assist dental laboratories in their
  continuing efforts to improve the quality and
  efficiency of the dental team's service to the
  public."

Why Mess with a Good Thing?

• 2005 NBC Board creates CDL Modernization
  Committee
• to review the existing program and recommend
  conceptual changes to make the CDL more relevant
  to the needs of the industry.

• Program must be current and flexible to meet
  evolving industry needs
• Value to participating laboratories and their
  clients must increase through marketing and
  recognition
• Standards must include a broader range of
  subjects to be more applicable in the business
  world

How to Become a CDL

• Get a CDL Handbook and Application
• From NBC via website or phone
• At NADL component meetings
• Submit application, fee and photographic
  documentation
• NBC provides a photo checklist
• Can return electronically or
  as snapshots

• Application is reviewed
• Staff checks for completeness and removes name of
  laboratory
• Independent Reviewer makes determination
• CDL granted
• Notification and materials sent
• New CDLs recognized on website
• Provisional Approvals may require additional
  documentation
