- Fiction is arranged differently than at a public
library. Fiction books are given Dewey decimal
numbers just like non-fiction, so follow the
flags at the ends of the stacks. - Its best to use the on-line POLAR catalog to
find what you are looking for - The catalog is available 24/7 at
www.onu.edu/library

Find the Location, Call Number, and Status
- HML 3rd Stacks corresponds with the third floor,
2nd Stacks with the second floor, and 1st Stacks
with the first floor. - If an items status is Available, it is shelved.
If a date is listed then someone has it checked
out. - To find an available book, youll need to know
the call number.

Finding Books on the Shelf
- Go to the floor specified in the catalog and find
the call number of the book. - The bookshelves are labeled in call number order,
and there are call number maps near the elevators
and stairwells. - If you need help, pick up a red phone or come to
the circulation desk. The library staff is always
ready to assist you! - Books are loaned for three weeks and may be
renewed up to four times.

Borrowing DVDs and CDs from HML
DVDs, CDs and videocassettes are kept behind the
circulation desk. Patrons wishing to borrow them
must fill out a request slip and bring it to the
library staff at the desk.
