  • Governed by the Interlibrary Loan Code for the
    United States.
  • Established by the ALAs Reference and User
    Services Association, (RUSA)
  • ILL is a vehicle for getting informational
    materials not available in a library.
  • Libraries should be willing to lend if they are
    willing to borrow.

  • Requesting Library The library that is
    borrowing material for a patron.
  • Supplier Library The library that is supplying
    or loaning the requested material to another
    library.
  • ILL material examples books, journal, maps,
    videos, audiovisuals, newspapers, copies of
    journal articles, rare books.
