ALA Interlibrary loans (ILL)

• Governed by the Interlibrary Loan Code for the
  United States.
• Established by the ALAs Reference and User
  Services Association, (RUSA)
• ILL is a vehicle for getting informational
  materials not available in a library.
• Libraries should be willing to lend if they are
  willing to borrow.

• Requesting Library The library that is
  borrowing material for a patron.
• Supplier Library The library that is supplying
  or loaning the requested material to another
  library.
• ILL material examples books, journal, maps,
  videos, audiovisuals, newspapers, copies of
  journal articles, rare books.

• Costs associated with ILLs
• The library usually pays the charge, but patrons
  can be charged for multi-page articles.
• Highline 25-30
• U. Washington 30 and higher
• New York State Library 1-30 pg. 10, 31-50 pg.
  15, 51-100 pg. 25, 101 pg. 25 and higher
• Special handling 5-15, Fed. Ex, UPS, fax,
  color copies, first class mail, telephone
  request, same day service, non-faculty,
  non-student charges.
