  • Similar to Jehovahs Witnesses

5
SDA Fundamental Beliefs
  • 18. The Gift of ProphecyOne of the gifts of the
Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an
identifying mark of the remnant church and was
manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White .
As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a
continuing and authoritative source of truth
which provide for the church comfort, guidance,
instruction, and correction. They also make clear
that the Bible is the standard by which all
teaching and experience must be tested.

6
SDA Fundamental Beliefs
  • 19. Law of God The great principles of God's
law are embodied in the Ten Commandments and
exemplified in the life of Christ. They express
God's love, will, and purposes concerning human
conduct and relationships and are binding upon
    all people in every age

7
SDA Fundamental Beliefs
  • 20. SabbathThe beneficent Creator, after the
six days of Creation, rested on the seventh day
and instituted the Sabbath for all people as a
memorial of Creation. The fourth commandment of
God's unchangeable law requires the observance of
this seventh-day Sabbath as the day of rest,
worship, and ministry in harmony with the
teaching and practice of Jesus, the Lord of the
Sabbath. The Sabbath is a day of delightful
communion with God and one another. It is a
symbol of our redemption in Christ, a sign of our
sanctification, a token of our allegiance, and a
foretaste of our eternal future in God's kingdom.
The Sabbath is God's perpetual sign of His
eternal covenant between Him and His people

8
Fundamental Beliefs
  • 25. Second Coming of ChristThe second coming of
Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the
grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming
will be literal, personal, visible, and
worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead
will be resurrected, and together with the
righteous living will be glorified and taken to
heaven, but the unrighteous will die

9
Fundamental Beliefs
  • 26. Death and ResurrectionThe wages of sin is
death. But God, who alone is immortal, will grant
eternal life to His redeemed. Until that day
death is an unconscious state for all people.
When Christ, who is our life, appears, the
resurrected righteous and the living righteous
will be glorified and caught up to meet their
Lord. The second resurrection, the resurrection
of the unrighteous, will take place a thousand
    years later.

10
Fundamental Beliefs
  • 27. Millennium and the End of SinThe millennium
is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His
saints in heaven between the first and second
resurrections. During this time the wicked dead
will be judged the earth will be utterly
desolate, without living human inhabitants, but
occupied by Satan and his angels. At its close
Christ with His saints and the Holy City will
descend from heaven to earth. The unrighteous
dead will then be resurrected, and with Satan and
his angels will surround the city but fire from
God will consume them and cleanse the earth. The
universe will thus be freed of sin and sinners
    forever.

11
Latter-Day Prophets?
  • The Bible warns about those who would teach
    different things
  • The Bible is complete sufficient
  • The gift of prophecy has ceased

12
What Is The Sabbath?
  • The Sabbath is Misunderstood
  • The Hebrew, to cease
  • Seventh Day of Week
  • Saturday

13
Genesis 22-3
  • And by the seventh day God completed His work
which He had done and He rested on the seventh
day from all His work which He had done. Then God
blessed the seventh day and sanctified it,
because in it He rested from all His work which
    God had created and made.

14
Exodus 1626
  • Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh
day, the sabbath, there will be none.

15
Exodus 208-11
  • Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six
days you shall labor and do all your work, but
the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your
God in it you shall not do any work, you or your
son or your daughter, your male or your female
servant or your cattle or your sojourner who
    stays...

16
Exodus 208-11 (Contd)
  • with you. For in six days the LORD made the
heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in
them, and rested on the seventh day therefore
the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it
    holy.

17
Deuteronomy 514-15
  • but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your
God in it you shall not do any work And you
shall remember that you were a slave in the land
of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out
of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched
arm therefore the LORD your God commanded you to
    observe the sabbath day.

18
Nehemiah 913-14
  • Then Thou didst come down on Mount Sinai, and
didst speak with them from heaven Thou didst
give to them just ordinances and true laws, good
statutes and commandments. So Thou didst make
known to them Thy holy sabbath, and didst lay
down for them commandments, statutes, and law,
    through Thy servant Moses.

19
Deuteronomy 52-3
  • The LORD our God made a covenant with us at
Horeb. The LORD did not make this covenant with
our fathers, but with us, with all those of us
    alive here today.

20
Exodus 3113
  • But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel,
saying, You shall surely observe My sabbaths
for this is a sign between Me and you throughout
your generations, that you may know that I am the
    LORD who sanctifies you.

21
Exodus 3116-17
  • So the sons of Israel shall observe the
sabbath, to celebrate the sabbath throughout
their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is
a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever
for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,
but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and
    was refreshed.

Age-Lasting
23
Matthew 517-18
  • Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or
the Prophets I did not come to abolish, but to
fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and
earth pass away, not the smallest letter or
stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is
    accomplished.

24
John 1930
  • When Jesus therefore had received the sour wine,
He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head,
    and gave up His spirit.

25
Hebrews 87
  • For if that first covenant had been faultless,
there would have been no occasion sought for a
    second.

26
Hebrews 88
  • For finding fault with them, He says, "Behold,
days are coming, says the Lord, when I will
effect a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah

27
Hebrews 101
  • For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the
good things to come and not the very form of
things, can never by the same sacrifices year by
year, which they offer continually, make perfect
    those who draw near.

28
Hebrews 104
  • For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and
    goats to take away sins.

29
Galatians 324
  • Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us
to Christ, that we may be justified by faith.

30
Galatians 317
  • What I am saying is this the Law, which came
four hundred and thirty years later, does not
invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God,
so as to nullify the promise.

31
Galatians 325
  • But now that faith has come, we are no longer
    under a tutor.

32
Colossians 214
  • having canceled out the certificate of debt
consisting of decrees against us and which was
hostile to us and He has taken it out of the
way, having nailed it to the cross.

33
Ephesians 214-15
  • For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups
into one, and broke down the barrier of the
dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the
enmity, which is the Law of commandments
contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might
make the two into one new man, thus establishing
    peace,

34
Romans 74
  • Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die
to the Law through the body of Christ, that you
might be joined to another, to Him who was raised
from the dead, that we might bear fruit for God.

35
Romans 76-7
  • But now we have been released from the Law,
having died to that by which we were boundI
would not have known about coveting if the Law
had not said, You shall not covet.

36
2 Thessalonians 21-2
  • Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our
gathering together to Him, that you may not be
quickly shaken from your composure or be
disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a
letter as if from us, to the effect that the day
    of the Lord has come.

37
2 Peter 33-4
  • Know this first of all, that in the last days
mockers will come with their mocking, following
after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the
promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers
fell asleep, all continues just as it was from
    the beginning of creation.

38
2 Peter 35-7
  • For when they maintain this, it escapes their
notice that by the word of God the heavens
existed long ago and the earth was formed out of
water and by water, through which the world at
that time was destroyed, being flooded with
water. But the present heavens and earth...

39
2 Peter 35-7 (contd)
  • ...by His word are being reserved for fire, kept
for the day of judgment and destruction of
    ungodly men.

40
2 Peter 38-10
  • But do not let this one fact escape your notice,
beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a
thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some
count slowness, but is patient toward you, not
wishing for any to perish but for all

41
2 Peter 38-10 (contd)
  • ...to come to repentance. But the day of the
Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens
will pass away with a roar and the elements will
be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and
its works will be burned up.

42
Romans 25-10
  • But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant
heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in
the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous
judgment of God, who will render to every man
according to his deeds to those who by
    perseverance in doing good seek...

43
Romans 25-10 (contd)
  • ...for glory and honor and immortality, eternal
life but to those who are selfishly ambitious
and do not obey the truth, but obey
    unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There
will be tribulation and distress for every soul
of man who does evil, of the Jew first and...

44
Romans 25-10 (contd)
  • ...also of the Greek, but glory and honor and
peace to every man who does good, to the Jew
first and also to the Greek.
