11i Upgrade Attempt

• On June start date, Oracle assured us that
  scripts to go directly from
• 11.0.3 to 11.5.7 would be available in August.
  By August, the date
• was January. The latest date was summer 2003.

• E-Studios, a division of Oracle consulting was
  confident that the
• migration could be completed over a 3-day
  weekend. In fact, they
• advised us to consider an earlier date.

• After our initial problematic test upgrades, we
  enlisted the e-Studios
• group to perform our 3rd test upgrade. They
  were unable to
• to successfully complete this migration, within
  a 22 day window.

• During this final test upgrade we enlisted the
  aid of Oracle development
• and were given priority 1 status by Oracle
  support for all open issues.

Migration Issues

• No direct migration path from 11.0.3 to 11.5.7
  This caused
• the downtime window to significantly exceed our
  8 day timeframe.

• Quality of the services migration scripts Once
  the migration was
• complete the data was not correct and even with
  direct involvement
• of Oracle's development teams it could not be
  corrected
