Definition of Setting
The setting of the story takes place in
Michigan. The events of the story happen in
present time. More specific settings take place
in Webbs (main character) high school and at
his home in Michigan. Webb is a runner and it is
track season, but then something terrible
happens.

Definition and Glossary
Thinking Map
The main characters are Webber and Grandpa.
Webber is a round, dynamic character. His
character is fully developed and he goes through
some changes in the story. One of the changes
includes making the decision to take
responsibility for his actions. Grandpa is a
round, static character. Grandpas character is
fully developed, but his thoughts and opinions do
not change throughout the story. He wants to and
is determined to take the blame for the accident.

Plot
Webb hits the little girl with the car.
Webb was knocked unconscious and does not
remember the accident.
Webb doesnt pay attention.
Grandpa takes the blame for hitting the little
girl..
Grandpa lets Webb drive.
Grandpa offers Webb a ride to the mall.
Webber feels guilty and confesses

Conflict
Definition of conflict
The main conflict in this story was person vs.
self, an internal conflict. The majority of the
story entails Webbers guilty conscience about
the accident. He knows that Grandpa will take the
blame for something Webb did, but Webb does not
feel comfortable with this decision. He finally
decides to do the right thing and accepts
responsibility for his actions by confessing to
police.

Summary
This story is about 15 year old Webber, from
Michigan who is a fantastic runner for his high
school. He is very close to his grandfather. One
day his grandfather lets him drive and they end
up hitting a little girl who is riding her bike.
Both Webb and his grandfather are thrown from the
car and knocked unconscious. The little girl is
also knocked unconscious. When Webb awakens, he
does not remember anything. A police officer
questions Webb and his grandfather. His
grandfather tells the officer that he was the one
driving! Eventually, Webb pieces together what
happened and figures out that his grandfather was
not driving, he was. He feels terrible about the
situation and now he has to figure out what to do.

Book Review
I thought this book was very interesting because
it had lot of suspense. It plays a lot on the
main characters conscience to do the right
thing. I was really surprised at the events of
the beginning of the book. It was a real page
turner, keeping me wanting to read on to find out
how the characters deal with the situation. They
have to make some hard decisions. Overall I would
definitely recommend this book to anyone!
