ULTRA BIOCID-GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • SAFETY
  • 1- VERY SAFE PRODUCT WHICH HAS NO ODOR, FUMES OR
    VAPOR PRESSURE
  • 2- NO AFFINITY FOR HUMAN FLESH- WILL CAUSE NO
BURNS OR BLISTERING- SEE DERMAL IRRITATION TESTS
  • 3- EASY STORAGE REQUIRES NO SPECIAL HANDLING OR
    CONTAINERS
  • 4- NO FUMES MEANS NO CORROSION WHEN USED AT
AMBIENT TEMPERATURES- SEE METAL CORROSION TESTS
  • 5- NO MUTAGENICITY- SEE AMES ASSAY
  • 6- NON TOXIC-LD-50 1121 mg/kg(RATS, ORAL)
  • 7- NO HEAT LIBERATION UPON DILUTION

16
ULTRA BIOCID- GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • ENVIRONMENTAL
  • 1- VERY LOW BOD/COD- MUCH LOWER THAN ACETIC AND
    CITRIC ACID
  • 2- CONTAINS NO PHOSPHATES, CHLORIDES, ETC.
  • 3- NOT KNOWN TO INCREASE WASTEWATER DISCHARGE
    LIMITS

17
ULTRA BIOCID- GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • ECONOMY
  • 1- COMPETITIVE AGAINST MOST COMMONLY USED ACIDS
  • 2- NEW US PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

18
NEUTRALIZATION OF CAUSTIC TREATED DENIM
  • DENIM FABRIC SUBJECTED TO HIGH AMOUNTS OF CAUSTIC
(NaOH 50) WILL EXHIBIT FACE AND BATH pHs OF
    APPROXIMATELY 12.0 13.0
  • AS THESE GOODS ARE PROCESSED ON A CONTINUOUS WASH
RANGE, A WIDE ARRAY OF pH RANGES MAY BE ADJUSTED
    USING ULTRA BIOCID

19
NEUTRALIZATION OF CAUSTIC TREATED DENIM
  • PROCEDURE
  • INTO THE FIRST OR SECOND WASH BOX A CONTINUOUS
FEED OF ULTRA BIOCID IS INTRODUCED PLUS WASH
WATER WHICH IS ALLOWED TO OVERFLOW. THE AMOUNT OF
ULTRA BIOCID ADDED IS DETERMINED BY THE DESIRED
FABRIC FINISH pH REQUIRED, THE MACHINE SPEED AND
TO A LESSER DEGREE THE FABRIC WEIGHT.
  • AS AN EXAMPLE, MOST DENIM WILL REQUIRE AN ULTRA
BIOCID ADJUSTED BATH pH OF APPROXIMATELY 1.5
    2.0 _at_ A MACHINE SPEED OF 60 80 YPM

20
NEUTRALIZATION OF CAUSTIC TREATED DENIM
  • PROCEDURE CONTINUED
  • UNDER THESE OPERATING CONDITIONS, EXIT FABRIC
FACE pHS WILL EQUAL APPROXIMATELY 8.0 9.5
  • IN-PLANT ADJUSTMENTS OF THE ULTRA BIOCID FLOW
RATE WILL ALLOW THE WASHER OPERATOR TO ACHIEVE
    ANY pH RANGE DESIRED
  • BECAUSE ULTRA BIOCID HAS NO VAPOR PRESSURE,
EXTREMELY STEADY AND LEVEL pH RANGES ARE POSSIBLE
WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER ACID SOURCES

21
NEUTRALIZATION OF CAUSTIC TREATED DENIM
  • MAINTENANCE
  • IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT ALL PROCESS
EQUIPMENT BE CLEANED AND RINSED FREE OF ANY
RESIDUAL ULTRA BIOCID AFTER PROCESS IS COMPLETE
SO AS NOT TO ALLOW DRIED SALTS TO REMAIN ON
    EQUIPMENT.
  • IF DRIED SALTS ARE EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES
OVER A SUSTAINED PERIOD OF TIME, THE POSSIBILITY
OF CORROSION MAY OCCUR. SIMPLE CLEANING WITH
WATER WILL ELIMINATE THIS POSSIBLE CONDITION
SINCE THESE ACID SALTS WILL READILY DISSOLVE.

22
LABORATORY TESTING
23
BIOCID TESTING
  • DUE TO ULTRA BIOCIDS UNIQUE CHEMISTRY, SOME
MINOR DIFFERENCES MAY BE NOTED DURING LAB
    EVALUATIONS
  • AS COMPARED TO ACETIC ACID, FOR EXAMPLE, ULTRA
BIOCIDS BUFFER POINT IS APPROXIMATELY 2.0 AND
    ACETIC ACID IS APPROXIMATELY 3.8
  • BECAUSE OF THE BUFFER DIFFERENCES, CUSTOMERS
USUALLY ATTEMPT TO ADJUST ULTRA BIOCID BY
ADDITIONAL STRENGTH CUTS WHICH WILL LEAD TO
INCONSISTENT pH READINGS AND ERRONOUS RESULTS

24
BIOCID TESTING- CONTINUED
  • WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THE AMOUNTS OF ULTRA
BIOCID RECOMMENDED BE FOLLOWED IN ALL CASES AS IT
WILL SAVE VALUABLE LAB TIME AND MINIMIZE MISTAKES
  • BIOCIDS LOWER BUFFER POINT WILL REACH
EQUILIBRIUM VERY QUICKLY AS IT DISASSOCIATES
WHICH WILL EQUATE THE ACID BEING TESTED
  • SEE CHART AND GRAPHS FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
  • ULTRA BIOCID IS EASILY BLENDED WITH WATER TO THE
REQUIRED pH STRENGTHS WITH INCREDIBLE SAFETY AND
    EASE OF HANDLING

25
BIOCID DYEBATH pH ADJUSTMENTS
26
BIOCID DYEBATH pH ADJUSTMENTS
  • BIOCID WILL READILY AND SAFELY ADJUST DYEBATH pH
    RANGES
  • BIOCID MAY BE USED ON ANY DYEING EQUIPMENT AND
FOR ANY FIBER AND FIBER BLENDS
  • EXAMPLES OF DYE EQUIPMENT INCLUDE JETS, PACKAGE
MACHINES, BECKS, BEAMS, HOSIERY MACHINES OF ALL
    TYPES, CONTINUOUS DYE RANGES, ETC.
  • BIOCID EXHIBITS NO UNUSUAL SPECTRA SHIFTS WHEN
USED AS RECOMMENDED NO DIFFERENCES IN DYE
    YIELDS NOTED.
  • SEE CHARTS FOR STRENGTH COMPARISONS OF VARIOUS
    ACIDS

30
BIOCIDS USE IN WASTEWATER
31
BIOCIDS USE IN WASTEWATER
  • ULTRA BIOCID IS WIDELY USED TO TREAT PLANT AND
MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER WHEN pH ADJUSTMENTS ARE
    REQUIRED
  • BECAUSE ULTRA BIOCID HAS VERY LOW BOD/COD
REQUIREMENTS, AND CONTAINS NO PHOSPHATES, MANY
CUSTOMERS USE BIOCID TO ASSIST IN THEIR
    WASTEWATER TREATMENT
  • BIOCID WILL REPLACE SULFURIC ACID AND ALSO CARBON
    DIOXIDE GAS
  • BIOCID IS NORMALLY ADDED AT THE LAST WASTEWATER
DISCHARGE EXIT TO CONTROL pH AND BOD/COD
