What is a Mission Assignment (MA)?
Definition Work order issued by FEMA Operations t
o a Federal agency directing completion of a
specific task, and citing funding, other
managerial controls, and guidance
Given in anticipation of, or response to a Pre
sidential declaration of an emergency
or major disaster.

Criteria for MA Issuance
  • Issued during Emergency Response Phase
  • Involves ONLY non-permanent work
  • Involves utilizing a Federal Agencys unique
    resource

  • Any type of support to Federal responders
  • 100 Federally funded
  • Before or after declaration
  • FED to FED.

  • Coordinate with PO to ensure accuracy of SOW,
    periods of performance (beginning and ending
    dates), delivery of goods and services, and cost
    estimate
  • Define work to be accomplished
  • Coordinate with MAC on cost estimates
  • Submit work progress reports to PO

  • Submit work progress information to the PO
  • Ensure work/contract is successfully completed
  • Ensure management controls are in place

  • Monitor and review Agency progress and
    performance
  • Provide work and financial status information to
    the PO
  • Conduct field site visits
  • Participate in regular meeting with PO
  • Monitor funding requirements and request increase
    or decrease of funds to PO
  • Ensure funds are properly spent
  • Review performance to ensure actions are within
    the scope of work and existing period of
    performance
  • Request the purchase of property needed to
    accomplish the mission
  • Monitor property status and disposition in
    coordination with Logistics

  • With the PO, certify that MA work was performed
