Purpose

• Many resources have been spent for decades on
  research and development in the area of learning
  technologies.
• Yet, besides countless publications and a mass of
  PhDs, there is a remarkable lack of actual
  impact of technology on the way people learn, in
  schools, academic, corporate and military
  contexts alike.
• The purpose of this manifesto is to help focus
  research on relevant questions and problems, so
  that the results of this research will actually
  have an impact in the Real World.

Mission statement

• "I believe that this nation should commit itself
  to achieving the goal, before the decade is out,
  of landing a man on the Moon and returning him
  safely to Earth".
• The ANSARI X PRIZE will be awarded to the team
  that designs the first private spaceship that
  successfully launches three humans to a
  sub-orbital altitude of 100 km on two consecutive
  flights within two weeks. All teams must be
  privately financed.

• Within 10 years, each individual must have access
  to knowledge, allowing them to improve
  effectiveness _at_ work and quality of life.
• Within 10 years, a group of 14 year olds should
  be able to get all info by elearning to shoot a
  rocket to the moon.
• Available today, can they assimilate it?
• Not a good idea? 1 billion in USA over 10 years
  in general education no effect? USA doing better
  than EU? Two tier USA. Whom are we addressing?
  Funding. Development of Internet military
  funding. Simple.
• Is theory known? We need to first understand
  knowledge?
• 6 degrees of separation 6 steps in access to
  any learning resource
• Big targets world economic forum economic
  competitiveness. Doubling absorbtive capacity of
  SMEs. (100 billion euro for education and
  training)
• Productize, turn into economic activity new
  knowledge
• Realize ambient schooling school comes to
  student accomplish more by doing less
• Personal level technology as lever to crack open
  monolithic education.Metaphor just in time
  manufacturing has replaced fordism.Learning has
  been transformed, though not institutional
  learning.
• Within 5 years, all people to orchestrate and
  control what they know and what they want to know
  as part of active learning communities.

• In 10 years, diminish digital divide, from small
  to large info society, from large to small scale
  production, sustainable of planet.
• In 5 years, everyone access to all major
  repositories in the world, regardless of metadata
  format and search interface. All material should
  be in those repositories.
• I have a dream everyone same chances to learn
  as EU and USA
• 5-10 years go beyond learning, take into account
  adaptation to situation (music, car, )
• All national curriculum bodies abolished
• Everyone who wants to set up educational
  activity which technology and why?
