What are Plantar Warts

• Plantar warts are hard warts that often develop
  on the sole of the foot. Plantar warts are
  caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV),
  strains that are most often the cause of plantar
  warts are type 1 2 HPV.  These strains are
  contagious and are spread from person to person
  via direct contact with the virus. Plantar warts
  differ from other warts, due to the pressure
  exerted on the sole of the foot from walking or
  standing plantar warts will grow deep inside the
  skin.

Symptoms

• Usually people are unaware they have contracted
  plantar warts until the become painful. Plantar
  warts will initially have black pin points in the
  lesion. Texture can be rough and scaly. The
  growth of a plantar wart will also be well
  defined.
• Plantar warts can sometimes be confused with
  corns and calluses.

Causes

• As previously mentioned plantar warts are caused
  by the HPV strain 1 or 2. These are highly
  contagious viruses that enter the skin through
  small cuts or abrasions on the sole of the foot.
  HPV thrives in a warm moist environment.

• Plantar warts are treated a number of ways but
  can eventually go away without treatment.
• If the lesions are to painful to ignore they can
  be treated
• Surgically
• Cryogenicaly
• Chemically
• Electrically
• Laser Therapy
