What is computer vision Syndrome?
  • Computer Vision Syndrome or CVS describes a
    group of symptoms like Dry eyes, Eye strain etc.
    caused by prolonged computer usage.

WHAT CAUSES CVS?
There are a number of factors that determine the
amount of strain your body feels as you work on a
computer, including lighting in the room,
distance from the screen, glare on the screen,
seating posture, and the angle of your head not
to mention any existing vision problems you may
have. One or all of these may combine to cause an
uncomfortable amount of strain on your eyes.

Why we are concern about (cvs)
  • Presently, a huge population spend long hours
    on computers for work purpose or for surfing
    Social Networking sites.
  • Lots of people who spend sufficient time on
    computers, laptops have faced eyestrain, headache
    and other CVS symptoms.
  • This problem also effect productivity by 4 to 19

What are the symptoms of cvs?
  • Eyestrain
  • Blurred Distant Vision
  • Fatigue
  • Dry or Irritated Eyes
  • Headache
  • Neck and/or Backaches
  • Blurred Near Vision
  • Diplopia (Double Vision)

Problems Due to cvs
  • Prolonged exposure to computers is not healthy
    for human optical system.
  • It decrease blinking rate. Approximately we blink
    22 times/minutes, whereas while using computers,
    we blink only 4 to 6 times.
  • Lower blinking leads to dry eyes .
  • Many people sit in either one poster for long
    time or in wrong posture, this leads to stiff
    necks and pain in shoulders.

Steps to reducing computer eyestrain
  • Get an eye exam and wear glasses even if you have
    a minor power.
  • Make sure your room is properly lit, too bright
    or too dim light may cause eye strain.
  • Adjust the brightness of your computer screen.
  • Blink often.
  • Use lubricating eye drops for dry eyes.
  • Always wear computer glasses to eliminate glares.
  • Exercise for eyes
  • Take frequent breaks

  • Buy one computer glasses and always wear them
    while using computers.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take frequent breaks at small intervals like
    after 20-30 minutes.
  • Do easy exercises for your eyes like 20-20-20

  • Splash water on eyes during breaks, this will
    help in cooling the eyes.
  • Choose font color of your system carefully,
    preferably work with dark fonts on light
    background and vice-versa.
  • Blink purposely.
  • Eat healthy diet full of Vitamin C.
