in His Priestly Order
The Order of Melchizedek is superior to the Order
of Levi. The Levitical Priesthood and the
Law were abrogated because they were insufficient.
The Priesthood of Jesus Christ is
superior, unchangeable, ever-enduring. Proved
by - His Own pure and spotless character.
- Perfection of the sin offering made by
Christ. - The exalted sphere of His
Ministry.

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul
in His Covenant
B E T T E R P R O M I S E S
Old covenant faulty party to covenant by
physical birth (actual forgiveness not
available for the faithful) taken
away (no longer valid as law) -
New covenant faultless party to covenant by
spiritual birth (FORGIVENESS NOW - to
obedient / faithful) -
Covenant abides forever -

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
All spiritual blessings are in Christ.
in His Sanctuary
COMPARISON
The sanctuary, services, sacrifices of the OLD
could not take away sin
The church of God which He purchased with His own
blood.
The sanctuary, services, sacrifices of the NEW
provide forgiveness of sin ACCEPTABLE SERVICES TO
GOD
He is the Savior of the body.
Lesson 9
En 4019 V 16 of 73
17
THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
Jesus offered one sacrifice for sins forever.
in His Sacrifice
COMPARISON
OLD could not take away sin sacrifices
offered continually
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls
and goats could take away sin.
NEW Christs one sacrifice for sin takes away
sin forever - sacrifices for sin no longer
needed
So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of
many for salvation.
Lesson 9
En 4019 V 17 of 73
18
THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.
in His Priestly Service
COMPARISON
OLD sacrifices of many types of animals -
offered continually
And every priest stands ministering daily and
offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which
can never take away sins.
NEW Christ appeared once in the most holy place
(heaven) in the presence of God to put away sin
by the sacrifice of Himself.

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
in the Priestly Service which He
requires of priests today
PERFECT ION
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the
sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of
our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Let us go on to
Every Christian is a priest in the Priesthood of
Jesus Christ
But do not forget to do good and to share, for
with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

of the Priests in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ
and in the new / true sanctuary are the spiritual
services.

and more perfect services of Christ
The all-sufficiency of the one offering of
Christ to secure forgiveness for all mankind.

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST
Christ is superior in the WAY OF LIFE He
teaches and provides for all mankind.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter
the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and
living way which He consecrated for us, through
the veil, that is, His flesh, and having
a High Priest over the house of God, let us
draw near with a true heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience and our bodies washed with pure
water. Let us hold fast the confession of our
hope with-out wavering, for he who promised is
faithful.

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST
FAITH and OBEDIENCE
FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen.
But before faith came, we were kept for the
faith that we might be justified by faith
For you are all sons of God through faith in
Christ Jesus ... And if you are Christs,
then you are Abrahams seed, and heirs according
to the promise.
Was not Abraham our father justified by works
faith was working together with his works,
and by works faith was made
perfect a man is
justified by works, and not by faith only.

Sacrifices The Burnt Offerings The Grain and
Peace Offerings The Guilt Offerings
We see Christ in the sacrifices of the Old
Testament.

53
A Study on Sacrifice
Man feels a need to offer sacrifice it is
almost as inherent as breathing.
Sacrifice in its simplest terms means a gift to
God
a presentation to Deity of some material
object as an act of worship. In early
times, this was the sum of religion.
The first sacrifice recorded Cain Abel (Gen.
4). - Consider the elements stated about
sacrifice.
The sacrifice of Noah (Gen. 8,9). -
Consider the sacrifices which Noah offered.
- Consider the purpose for which Noah offered
sacrifice. - Consider Gods response to
Noahs offerings.
En 1010 V 53 of 73
54
A Study on Sacrifice -2
Sacrifice means a gift to God
Abraham (Gen. 15) a Covenant Sacrifice
- Established categories - Established
standards for future sacrifices
Moses established a covenant between God
Israel - Received a code of ordinances
(the ten commandments) called the Law of
Moses - Various types of sacrifices were
required by the Law - The sacrifices
illustrate the promise to the people -
Impress it upon their minds daily, weekly,
annually - Look to the fulfillment of
the promise - realization.
PURPOSE of a sacrifice is very important.
PURPOSE

55
A Closer look at the Sacrifices
Five basic categories 1. Burnt
offerings 2. Meal offerings
3. Peace offerings 4. Sin offerings
5. Trespass offerings
Two classes 1. The sweet savor
offerings - offered to God as an
oblation for acceptance
Burnt, Meal and Peace offerings. 2. The
guilt offerings - offered to God as
an expiation for sin Sin
and Trespass offerings.
En 1010 V 55 of 73
56
A Closer look at the Sacrifices -2
Three essential elements in all of the sacrifices
WE SEE
1. The Offering
animal, meal, oil, frankincense, etc.
Christ - the Son of God
2. The Offerer
man who has sinned, faithful child
Christ - the man
3. The Priest
God-appointed intermediary, sanctified
prior to serving
Christ - the one Mediator for all mankind
En 1010 V 56 of 73
57
The Burnt Offerings
Burnt Offerings - 1st - "sweet savor", sometimes
called Korban or "Oblation" - to be
offered on the brazen altar.
Guilt Offerings - not allowed on the brazen
altar some (1) on the ground (2)
outside the camp (3) priests ate of
Four characteristics of Burnt Offerings
1. A sweet savor offering
offered to please God
2. Offered for acceptance
as a faithful child of God
3. Offering of a life
a life for a life
4. Offering was wholly burnt
symbol total surrender
Mans duty to God - the entire surrender of all!
L I F E is from God. Man is a debtor to God
for his life.
En 1010 V 57 of 73
58
The Burnt Offerings - 2
Burnt Offerings - three major types of life to
be offered
As we see Christ the Offering and the options of
life that were given for the Burnt Offering, we
begin to see new "sides" to Christ's nature.
1. Of the herd - bullock
strong, patient, untiring
2. Of the flock - lamb
passive, quiet, submissive
3. Of the fowls - turtledove
purity, innocence
Love God with all of your heart, soul, mind.
Burnt Offerings
The offering of the fruit of God L I F E
to God.
En 1010 V 58 of 73
59
The Meal (Grain) Offerings
Meal Offerings - 2nd "sweet savor" offering (of
grain), consisting
of flour, oil, and frankincense.
The Meal Offering was
1. A sweet savor offering for acceptance
2. There was no giving up of a life
3. The offering was not wholly burnt
The offering is first put on the altar and
offered to God and then the remainder was eaten
by the priests.
Love God Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
Meal Offerings
The offering of the fruit of man c o r
n , o i l to both man and God.
En 1010 V 59 of 73
60
The Peace Offerings
Peace Offerings - 3rd type of "sweet savor"
offering an oblation to God for
acceptance voluntary a thank
offering, a vow offering, a freewill offering
at the consecration of priests, the feast
of Pentecost, any solemn dedication.
A life was given.
Gods portion The offerer killed the victim,
the priest burned the fat and inwards on the
altar Gods portion
wave offering The high priest took the breast
of the animal, waved it before God, then ate some
of it.
A communal meal the offerer the priests
God all participated all were satisfied
heave offering The priests took the right
shoulder or thigh, raised it to God, then ate
some of it.
The offerers portion Remainder was left for
the offerer to eat.
MAN pleased with GOD
En 1010 V 60 of 73
61
The Guilt Offerings
Guilt Offerings - offered for the expiation of
sins.
Comments - many of the sacrifices were offered
to show the recognition of the relationship which
existed between a man and his God faithful
child father thank you I am pleased that
you are my God, I am pleased that you are My son
consecrate for service.
Guilt Offerings - demonstrated I have
sinned! I need forgiveness. Only God can
provide expiation from sins.
Showed the heavenly pattern of the need of a
blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins.
Looked to the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ
the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the
world. John 129 316 Hebrews 91-28

The Guilt Offerings - 2
Two offerings, essentially the same, different
in 1 respect.
Sin Offerings - The law was given for the
sins of all men the priests, the congregation,
the ruler, and common man. Each situation was to
be dealt with in a prescribed manner, yet the
sacrifice as a whole was never allowed to be
offered within the camp. For general wrongdoing.
Without blemish.
Trespass Offerings - The animal was slain
outside of the Tabernacle. The fat, kidneys,
and caul were burned on the brazen altar. The
rest of the sacrifice was burned outside the
camp. For particular wrongdoing. Without blemish.
Comments - We see that God cannot
tolerate sin in His presence. The offering was
the embodiment of sin after the offerer laid his
hands on the head of the victim, transferring his
sins to the victim. Restitution was required
(according to the judgment of the priest) for
sins against man.
