HERMANN OBERTH
  • Hermann Oberth was born in 1894 and died in
1989 in Germany. He published a book in 1923
about going into outer space. Because of him,
small rocket companies were being built around
the world. Verein fur Raumschiffahrt (Society for
Space Travel), came up with the idea of the V-2
rocket, which was used against London during
World War II. In 1937, German engineers and
scientists, and Oberth, launched rockets in
Peenemunde on the shores of the Baltic Sea. There
the most advanced rocket of its time would be
    built and flown.

ANCIENT CHINESE ROCKETS
  • The rocket has made it a valuable tool in space.
For centuries, rockets have been used for
ceremonial and for wars and it al started out
with the ancient Chinese, the first people to
create rockets. The rocket was first used a fire
arrow used by the Chin Tartars in 1232 AD for
fighting off a Mongol on Kai-feng-fu. The larger
rockets used to launch in space is the more
modern version of the rockets used all the way
back in 1232 A.D. But for centuries rockets were
small, and they were used for weapons, sea
rescue, signaling, and fireworks. Till the 20th
century rockets emerged, and thats when the
rockets became a huge part of rocket technology.

launched on the moon. The first steps on the moon
were taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on
July 20, 1969. The astronauts also returned to
Earth the first samples from the moon. Apollo 11
