Title: Porcelain Fillings 12-14

1
Porcelain Fillings
  • According to Dr. Kezian, most dental patients are
aware of a dental filling and know what the
process actually involves. But, many of you may
not yet be aware of a dental inlay or an onlay.
  • For repairing the damage occurred in the biting
surface of your tooth, your dentist may suggest
inlays or onlays, which are porcelain fillings,
    instead of a full crown.

Porcelain Fillings
  • An inlay in similar to a filling and lies inside
the cusp tips of your tooth.
  • They are custom made for fitting accurately
    inside the tooth.
  • The process is completed in two visits.
  • In first visit, Dr. Kezian and staff will clean
and prepare your tooth for the inlay. An
impression of your tooth will also be made and
sent to the laboratory, where your inlay will be
prepared from either from gold or from porcelain.
After that, your tooth will be sealed with a
temporary sealant and you can go to home.
  • On 2nd visit, the temporary sealant will be
removed and the gold or porcelain fillings will
be cemented inside the sups tips of your tooth.

Porcelain Fillings
  • An onlay is similar to an inlay, but the only
difference is this that it covers a large part of
the tooth. It can cover even one or more cusps of
    tooth.
  • Since onlays are an extensive reconstruction as
compared to inlays, they are only advised in case
if a substantial reconstruction is required.
  • These porcelain fillings cover a large part as
compared to inlays, but a small part as compared
    to a full crown.

  • What Are Tooth-Colored Inlays And Onlays?
  • They are also known as dental cosmetic fillings.
Several tooth-colored inlays and onlays have been
developed for constructing the larger defects of
    back teeth.
  • They are often made of porcelain, because its
color is similar to the color of humans teeth.
  • These fillings are developed in laboratories and
are fixed through a liquid plastic form of cement.
