  • Modify (describe) a verb, adjective, or another
    adverb.
  • Most words that end in ly are adverbs.
  • Not and nt are always adverbs
  • Most adverbs modify verbs.
  • If the verb being modified is part of a verb
    phrase, the adjective modifies the whole phrase.

What is it modifying?
  • Adverbs that modify verbs can be anywhere in the
    sentence, they do not need to be near the words
    they modify.
  • Adverbs that modify adjectives or other adverbs
    are usually found right before the word they
    modify.
