Magna Carter Causes Changes In England
11
Magna Carta
  • A document written by English nobles and signed
by King John listing rights the king could not
    ignore.
  • The person who demanded this agreement was a
    group of English nobles.

12
Effects Of Magna Carta
13
What Were The Effects Of Magna Carta
  • The effects of Magna Carta were that the king had
to honor certain rights, such as habeas corpus.
Magna Carta required everyone to obey the law.
  • Three Demands Were
  • Habeas corpus
  • No man shall be forced to perform more service
for a knights fee or other free holding land
  • In future no official shall place a man on trial
upon his own unsupported statement, without
producing credible witnesses to the truth of it.

14
Changes After Magna Carta
  • Inspired English to find more ways to limit the
    kings power.
  • A council of nobles was made to advise the king.
  • They soon developed into Parliament , the body
    that governs England today.
  • Kings could do little without Parliaments support.

15
The Hundred Years War
16
The Course Of The War
  • In 1382 the king of France died with no heirs. So
two men claimed his throne, one was French while
the other was the king of England. The French man
    became king.

17
English Take The Lead
  • When the French man became king or England this
didnt sit well with the English king, so a few
years later he invaded France. The invasion began
a long conflict between England and France. This
was called The Hundred Years War. After 100 years
of fighting a teenage girl by the name of Joan Of
The Arc supported the French. But the English
captured her and burned her to death and drove
out the English from their country

18
Results Of The War
  • Changed the governments of both England and
France. Parliaments power grew because the king
needed Parliaments approval to raise money to pay
for the costly war. In France the kings power
grew. He had become popular with the nobles
during the war. They created a bond when they
were fighting with the English, because of that
    the nobles supported the king.

19
Black Death
20
Where It Came From
  • The Black Death came from Asia.

21
How It Spread
  • People moved and so it got to other places.

22
What Disease Was It
  • It was a disease called the bubonic plague.

23
Effects On Manor Life Feudalism
  • People moved out of the manors and moved to
different places. Spreading the disease even
more. 2/3rds of the population died. Because they
died there was enough food for everyone and
enough jobs and more money. So people were
    happier.

24
What Happened To It
  • Because all the weak immune system people died
only the people with strong immune systems lived.
So the disease faded out but its still around
    today.
