  • They dedicated their lives to religion with
    common rules.

  • -Francis of Assisi Created the Franciscan order.
  • -Friars were religious people who lived for God.
  • -These friars could have no worldly possessions.
  • -They lived along side the people of the towns.

  • -Thomas Aquinas developed a philosophical system
    called natural law to show how God had ordered
    the world.
  • -Religious leaders created Universities and
    schools.
  • -Students were taught religion, law, medicine,

    to have evidence for why people were put in jail.
    The last one was people had to have a fair trial.
    They were in important because it was the first
    step in democracy.

    third of Europe's population, perhaps 25 million
    people.

    streets which cleaned up Europe.
