    influential in medieval Europe culture and
    politics.
  • In the middle ages life revolved around the
    local church
  • Many people left land to the church when they

  • They lived outside of normal community.
  • As compared to Friars who are just like Monks but
    they do live in a community.
  • The Monks of Cluny established a new religious
    order.

    Franciscan order.
  • Friars were members of religious orders who lived
    and worked among the general public.
  • The Friars unlike the Monks lived inside a

    toll on human life, since serfs could often leave
    their manors and make a better living in cities.
