Magna Carta causes changed in England
11
Magna Carta
  • Magna Carta- It was also known as Great
    Charter.
  • They had made King John approve a document
listing rights the king could not ignore.-Among
these rights was that no one could be kept in
jail without reason, and even the king must obey
    the law .
  • Who demanded this agreement?-The people of
    England.

12
Effects of the Magna Carta
  • What were the effects of the M/C- The Magna Carta
led to more changes. Faced with war and financial
troubles, the king turned to a council of nobles
    for advice and money.

13
Changes after Magna Carta
  • Parliament-Lawmaking body that governs England.

14
The hundred Years War
  • The hundred year war- A long-standing conflict
between England and France during the 1300s and
    1400s.
  • The course of the war The war started when the
English king tried to take control of Frances
    throne.
  • French King dies with no heirs when the king
died they had went through the kings family till
they found a cousin for the throne. They had
found one on both his mothers and fathers side of
the family. They were his 3rd cousins .

15
More about The Hundred Years War
  • Two men claim the throne- One of his cousins was
French and the other one was the king of England.
AT the end the French man became king France.

into war , then at the end she was caught and
    killed for impersonating a boy.

Results of the hundred year war
  • It changed the government in France and England
    .
  • In England ,Parliaments power grew because the
king needed Parliaments approval to raise money
to pay for the costly war.
  • As Parliament gained more influence, the king
    lost power.
  • In France on the o0ther hand, the kings power
    grew.
  • During the war, the king had become popular with
    his nobles.
  • Fighting the English had created a bond between
    them.
  • As a result, the nobles supported the king after
    the war.

17
BLACK DEATH????
  • DEADLY Plague that KILLED MILLIONS of Europeans
    between 1347 and 1351.

18
Where it came from
  • The plague originally came from central and
    eastern Asia.
  • How it spread
  • Traders unknowingly brought the disease to the
    Mediterranean ports.
  • From there it quickly swept throughout much of
    Europe.
  • Fleas that fed on infected rats passed it on the
    plague to people.

19
What disease was it ????
  • The Black Death was not caused by one disease but
    several different forms of plague.
  • One form called bubonic plague (byoo-bah-nik
playg) could be identified by swelling called
buboes that appeared on victims body.
  • Another even deadlier form could spread through
the air and kill people in less then a day.

20
Effect on Manor life and feudalism/how many died?
  • The manor system fell apart completely. There
wasnt enough people left to work in the fields.
  • In England alone, about 1,000 villages were
    abandoned.
  • Some historians think Europe lost about a third
of its population-perhaps 25 million people
    because of the black death.

21
What happened to it ??
  • What happened was that they had cleaned up the
city and it reduced the black plague a lot.
