Title: Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment

1
What is Molluscum Contagiosum?
NATUROPATHIX
Molluscum contagiosum is a viral disease
characterized by small wart-like lesions on the
skin. The molluscum virus belongs to the poxvirus
family. The bumps caused by infection may remain
for six months to a year and disappear without
leaving scars. However, they may last for up to
four years.
2
Who is at risk of this disease?
NATUROPATHIX
  • Molluscum occurs all over the world but is more
common among people living in the warm and humid
    climates.
  • Moreover, it has been found to be more common in
    children aged between 1-10 years.
  • Weak immune system is the major cause of this
affliction as people with the weakest of immunes,
such as HIV infected persons, have a higher risk
of the disease and the skin lesions caused in
them by the virus looks different too.

How does this infection occur?
NATUROPATHIX
  • The molluscum virus travels on skin contact. It
may transmit by person to person contact or
touching a surface that is laden with the virus
such as clothing, toys and towel.
  • Scratching or itching on the bump caused by
molluscum poses the risk of carrying the
infection to other body parts or to another
    person.

How to know that a person is infected with
molluscum contagiosum?
NATUROPATHIX
  • If you find bumps, blisters or rash on your skin
that do not disappear on their own in a few days,
it would be prudent on your part to visit your
    healthcare provider.
  • If diagnosed with the condition, your doctor
would then discuss the treatment alternatives
    available for you.

What is the treatment of mollscum contagiosum?
NATUROPATHIX
  • You need to keep the blisters or rashes covered
with some sort of clothing or bandage. This will
prevent its spread to other body parts and to
    another person.
  • The conventional molluscum contagiosum treatment
options include cryotherapy, freezing of bumps
for their removal, curettage, removal of pus
formed inside the bumps, and third one is use of
    laser for removal of bumps.
