when changing from one to another specialty in
Medical Biopathology

- Virology
- Bacteriology
- Parasitology
- Polyvalent
- (Molecular Pathology)
11- In case of monovalent to monovalent
- An additional training of two years in the new
specialty will (not) be acceptable - In case of monovalent to polyvalent or vice versa
- Two additional years are based on the principle
- that in the training and practicing in
polyvalent biopathology, - the specialist has a broad basic training
(common trunk) - The applicant should be able to show
- in which specific aspects of polyvalent or
monovalent training - accreditation has been obtained
- in order to decide if additional training will
be needed or not - Recommended
- to bring in some kind of condition that,
- in addition to the common trunk training,
12 Haematology minimum of 5 years training at least 1 year post graduate clinical experience (Internal Medicine, Oncology, TM, Pediatrics, Transplantation) Clinical Haematology 3 years additional training in clinical hematology 1 year in Haematology Laboratory Laboratory Haematology 3 years in Haematology Laboratory 1 year in Chemistry, Immunology or Microbiology Transfusion Medicine 3 years in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Bank Services ans 1 year in clinical Haematology or other aereas of laboratory medicine
Chemistry minimum of 5 years training including 1 year post graduate clinical practice outside the Medical Biopathology Department. Common Trunc including Molecular Biology, Immunochemistry, Statistics, Quality Assurance, IT, Management and commercial skills
Polyvalent MB minimum of 5 years training Including 1 year clinical training and point of care laboratory medicine Initial Period of 2 years with general training followed by subsequent periods acquiring specialised knowledge
13 Immunology minimum of 5 years training clinical training should be an integral part of the training of a all medical biopathologists. All immunologists should have at least one year of clinical experience. Clinical Immunology 3 years with at least two years of laboratory immunology experience. Laboratory Immunology 4 years of laboratory practice and experience in other areas of laboratory medicine
Microbiology minimum of 5 years training Including experience of liasion with General Practitioner, with clinical colleagues through regular ward visits and participation in collaborative clinical activities

16- Which kind of additional training or practice
- should be requested
- in addition to basic training ?
-
- How to make sure
- that the additional training will cover
- all aspects of monovalent / polyvalent training
period ? - Should there be an examination (oral or written)
- or any other proof of expertise requested
- to accept the additional training or practice ?
17- Question to the section
- are we prepared
- to structure
- a basic training in medical Biopathology
- to recognize
- specialty training in and a switch to other
specialties - are we willing to propose
- solutions to the Section
- and
- able to find consent
- within the UEMS Specialty Section
- ?
18If the answer will be Yes let us go to
work If the answer will be No let us decide
to put these items in the Too-hard-basket
