Types of Production

• There are three types of production
• Primary
• Secondary
• Tertiary

Primary Production

• Involves using the earths natural resources,
  this may include
• Extraction (taking) of raw materials from the
  land or sea
• Growing items eg fruit, trees
• Examples include farming, fishing, mining,
  forestry and oil drilling

Secondary Production

• Involves taking raw materials and turning them
  into finished and semi-finished products
• Secondary involves manufacturing and construction
• Examples include building and construction, coach
  building and baking

Tertiary Production

• This involves providing services to consumers or
  to other businesses
• Examples include
• Retailing
• Banking
• Hairdressing
• Insurance
• Health care
