Communication within the Academic Environment
  • Although you can log into the course from the
comfort of your own home or anywhere, when you
enter the classroom and seminar, you are entering
an academic environment of higher learning where
professionalism is expected.  Neither Class nor
seminar is a Chat Room where anything goes.
Please keep in mind the following in your online
    courses.
  • Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation using
Standard American English (No text language or
    inappropriate language)
  • Address people by name
  • Be polite and respectful of fellow learners and
    the Professor
  • Understand and follow all Netiquette rules
    (course syllabus)

Communications (continued)
  • Emails
  • Students are not permitted to send mass emails to
the entire class it is unwanted email and a
violation of the Code of Conduct.
  • If you have any questions, you the student are to
email the professor directly. If you do not ask
questions how will you know the proper answer
  • Sending emails to the entire class is only
permitted to be done by the professor (that is
why the function is there it cannot be blocked
    for one and not all)
  • Please ensure when sending emails to anyone,
proper grammar and spelling are used and that you
address the person by name or title (See Writing
Center for Email Dos and Donts)

Poll Time!
  • Throughout seminar, I may do a poll.
  • A poll window will pop up on your screen, with a
question, and below you will have choices to
    select.
  • The purpose of polls is to reinforce key
information that I feel is important for you to
    know.
  • Please do not type your answer in the class
activity box for everyone to see.
  • The polls are completely anonymous, no one knows
who votes how (including me), so dont worry if
you dont get one rightits ok)
