Hawkeye History
  • The University of Iowa began playing football on
    September 26, 1889.
  • Enjoyed best success under Hayden Fry in the
    1980s and early 1990s.
  • The current coaches have led the team to its best
    success since the Fry years. The team has won
    ten games the last three years.

Kinnick Stadium
  • Kinnick Stadium was built in 1929.
  • It recently has its 75 year anniversary in 2004.
  • This year the university began a massive
    renovation project which has redone the South End
    zone.
  • The original stadium sat about 50,00 people per
    game, but now the Stadium will seat about 70,000.

Iowa had its first top 10 recruiting class in
history. They got many of the local areas best
players. Most of whom are from the Chicago,
Illinois suburbs. The players were most
interested in coach Kirk Ferentzs coaching
strategy. But as they say It doesnt matter
what you get its what you do when you get them.

2005 Preview
This year the Hawkeyes have been projected as a
top 10 preseason team. They have been rated 4th
by ESPN, 2nd by CBS, and 3 by College football
news.com. There are rated high in other polls
too. This should be a good year. They also have
the nations top rated linebackers Chad Greenway,
Abdol Hodge, and Edmund Miles.
