Theater Container Management
  • Background 50,000 Government and Commercial
    owned containers support the Theater for
    deployment and distribution.
  • Issue Commercially owned containers incur 13
    million monthly detention charges as units
    utilize them for storage, force protection,
    redeployment, and other purposes.
  • Objective Reduce the number of commercially
    owned containers being used for unit/sustainment
    shipments, and storage in the CENTCOM AOR.
    Procure government-owned dry containers for
    Intra-Theater movement.

  • Bi-weekly VTCs jointly chaired with SDDC to
    validate inventories and address issues
  • SDDC Team in place and CENTCOM CME will be

CJTF-76 Class I Management
  • Background Distribution Management of Class I
    for CJTF-76 has been challenging due to the long
    problematic Ground Lines of Communication (GLOC)
  • Issues
  • In transit visibility of containers from SPOE to
    final destination at JTF-76.
  • Backlog of containers at the port of Karachi.
  • Three years on the ground in Afghanistan, we are
    still serving Operational Rations (with
    supplements)
  • Way Ahead Transition to 21-Day menu
  • Necessary improvements to DFAC equipment will be
    completed by Dec 15
  • Sufficient (temporary) dry and cold storage
    exist.
  • Improved/permanent dry and cold storage will
  • be completed by 22 Apr.
  • First shipment of 21-day Menu scheduled to
  • arrive At JTF-76 on 13 Dec.
  • First day to serve 21-Day Menu will be 30 Dec
  • Changing over to the 21-Day menu will reduce
  • the Number of Class I containers by over 50
