IX. The Kingdom

• The Kingdom of God includes both His general
  sovereignty over the universe and His particular
  kingship over men who willfully acknowledge Him
  as King. Particularly the Kingdom is the realm of
  salvation into which men enter by trustful,
  childlike commitment to Jesus Christ. Christians
  ought to pray and to labor that the Kingdom may
  come and God's will be done on earth. The full
  consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of
  Jesus Christ and the end of this age.

X. Last Things

• God, in His own time and in His own way, will
  bring the world to its appropriate end. According
  to His promise, Jesus Christ will return
  personally and visibly in glory to the earth the
  dead will be raised and Christ will judge all
  men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be
  consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting
  punishment. The righteous in their resurrected
  and glorified bodies will receive their reward
  and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

  29"Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you
  of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and
  buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
  30Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that
  God had sworn with an oath to him that of the
  fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He
  would raise up the Christ to sit on his
  throne,e 31he, foreseeing this, spoke
  concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that
  His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh
  see corruption. 32This Jesus God has raised up,

  the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what
  shall we do?"     38Then Peter said to them,
  "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in
  the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
  sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
  Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your
  children, and to all who are afar off, as many as
  the Lord our God will call."     A Vital Church
  Grows    40And with many other words he
  testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved
  from this perverse generation." 41Then those who
  gladlyg received his word were baptized and
  that day about three thousand souls were added to
  them. 42And they continued steadfastly in the
  apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the
  breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43Then fear
  came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs

  believed were together, and had all things in

  and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
      46So continuing daily with one accord in the
  temple, and breaking bread from house to house,
  they ate their food with gladness and simplicity
  of heart, 47praising God and having favor with
  all the people. And the Lord added to the

  of Rome, Jews and proselytes,    11Cretes and
  Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues
  the wonderful works of God.    12And they were
  all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to
  another, What meaneth this?    13Others mocking
  said, These men are full of new wine.    14But
  Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his
  voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and
  all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known
  unto you, and hearken to my words    15For
  these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it
  is but the third hour of the day.    16But this
  is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel
     17And it shall come to pass in the last days,
  saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all
  flesh and your sons and your daughters shall
  prophesy, and your young men shall see visions,
  and your old men shall dream dreams    18And on
  my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out
  in those days of my Spirit and they shall
  prophesy    19And I will shew wonders in heaven
  above, and signs in the earth beneath blood, and
  fire, and vapour of smoke    20The sun shall be
  turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
  before the great and notable day of the Lord
  come    21And it shall come to pass, that
  whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord
  shall be saved.    22Ye men of Israel, hear
  these words Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of
  God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,
  which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
  yourselves also know    23Him, being delivered
  by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
  God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have
  crucified and slain    24Whom God hath raised
  up, having loosed the pains of death because it
  was not possible that he should be holden of it.
     25For David speaketh concerning him, I
  foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is
  on my right hand, that I should not be moved
     26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my
  tongue was glad moreover also my flesh shall
  rest in hope    27Because thou wilt not leave
  my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine
  Holy One to see corruption.    28Thou hast made
  known to me the ways of life thou shalt make me
  full of joy with thy countenance.    29Men and
  brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the
  patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried,
  and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

•    30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that
  God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the
  fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he
  would raise up Christ to sit on his throne
     31He seeing this before spake of the
  resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not
  left in hell, neither his flesh did see
  corruption.    32This Jesus hath God raised up,
  whereof we all are witnesses.

•    33Therefore being by the right hand of God
  exalted, and having received of the Father the
  promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth
  this, which ye now see and hear.    34For David
  is not ascended into the heavens but he saith

  assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus,

•    38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
  baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
  Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
  receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.    39For the
  promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
  all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD
  our God shall call.    40And with many other
  words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save
  yourselves from this untoward generation.
     41Then they that gladly received his word
  were baptized and the same day there were added
  unto them about three thousand souls.

  said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And
  he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
  32The place in the Scripture which he read was
  this        "He was led as a sheep to the
  slaughter        And as a lamb before its
  shearer is silent,        So He opened not His
  mouth.        33In His humiliation His justice
  was taken away,        And who will declare His
  generation?        For His life is taken from
  the earth."a         34So the eunuch answered
  Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the
  prophet say this, of himself or of some other
  man?" 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and
  beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to
  him. 36Now as they went down the road, they came
  to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is
  water. What hinders me from being baptized?"    
  37Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your
  heart, you may."     And he answered and said,
  "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of
  God."b     38So he commanded the chariot to
  stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went
  down into the water, and he baptized him. 39Now
  when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of
  the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch
  saw him no more and he went on his way
  rejoicing. 40But Philip was found at Azotus. And
  passing through, he preached in all the cities
  till he came to Caesarea.  26And the angel of

  44While Peter was still speaking these words, the
  Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the

  believed were astonished, as many as came with

  heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
      Then Peter answered, 47"Can anyone forbid
  water, that these should not be baptized who have
