IX. The Kingdom
  • The Kingdom of God includes both His general
sovereignty over the universe and His particular
kingship over men who willfully acknowledge Him
as King. Particularly the Kingdom is the realm of
salvation into which men enter by trustful,
childlike commitment to Jesus Christ. Christians
ought to pray and to labor that the Kingdom may
come and God's will be done on earth. The full
consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of
Jesus Christ and the end of this age.

X. Last Things
  • God, in His own time and in His own way, will
bring the world to its appropriate end. According
to His promise, Jesus Christ will return
personally and visibly in glory to the earth the
dead will be raised and Christ will judge all
men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be
consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting
punishment. The righteous in their resurrected
and glorified bodies will receive their reward
and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

Genesis 121-3
  • God Speaks to Abram     (A) 1 Now the LORD had
said to Abram        "Get out of your country,
From your family        And from your
father's house,        To a land that I will
show you.        2I will make you a great
nation        I will bless you        And make
your name great        And you shall be a
blessing.        3I will bless those who bless
you,        And I will curse him who curses you
And in you all the families of the earth
    shall be blessed."

46
Exodus 195-6
  • 5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice
and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special
treasure to Me above all people for all the
    earth is Mine.
  • 6And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and
a holy nation.' These are the words which you
shall speak to the children of Israel."   5Now
therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and
keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar
treasure unto me above all people for all the
earth is mine    6And ye shall be unto me a
kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are
the words which thou shalt speak unto the
    children of Israel.

47
Isaiah 61-8
  • 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the
Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and
the train of His robe filled the temple. 2Above
it stood seraphim each one had six wings with
two he covered his face, with two he covered his
feet, and with two he flew. 3And one cried to
another and said        "Holy, holy, holy is
the LORD of hosts        The whole earth is
full of His glory!"         4And the posts of
the door were shaken by the voice of him who
cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
5So I said        "Woe is me, for I am
undone!        Because I am a man of unclean
lips,        And I dwell in the midst of a
people of unclean lips For my eyes have seen the
    King,        The LORD of hosts."

48
Isaiah 61-8
  •     6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having
in his hand a live coal which he had taken with
the tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my
mouth with it, and said        "Behold, this
has touched your lips        Your iniquity is
taken away,        And your sin purged."
8Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying
"Whom shall I send,        And who will
go for Us?"         Then I said, "Here am I!
    Send me."

49
Matthew 937-38
  • 37Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest
truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send
    out laborers into His harvest."

50
Matthew 105-15
  • 7And as you go, preach, saying, "The kingdom of
heaven is at hand.' 8Heal the sick, cleanse the
lepers, raise the dead,a cast out demons.
Freely you have received, freely give. 14And
whoever will not receive you nor hear your words,
when you depart from that house or city, shake
off the dust from your feet. 15Assuredly, I say
to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of
Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than
    for that city!

51
Matthew 1318- 30, 37-43
  • 18"Therefore hear The parable of the sower
  • 19When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and
does not understand it, then the wicked one comes
and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
This is he who received seed by the wayside.
20But he who received the seed on stony places,
this is he who hears the word and immediately
receives it with joy 21yet he has no root in
himself, but endures only for a while. For when
tribulation or persecution arises because of the
word, immediately he stumbles. 22Now he who
received seed among the thorns is he who hears
the word, and the cares of this world and the
deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he
    becomes unfruitful.

52
Matthew 1318- 30, 37-43
  • 23But he who received seed on the good ground is
he who hears the word and understands it, who
indeed bears fruit and produces some a
    hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

53
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares
  •     24Another parable He put forth to them,
saying "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who
sowed good seed in his field 25but while men
slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the
wheat and went his way. 26But when the grain had
sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also
appeared. 27So the servants of the owner came and
said to him, "Sir, did you not sow good seed in
your field? How then does it have tares?' 28He
said to them, "An enemy has done this.' The
servants said to him, "Do you want us then to go
and gather them up?' 29But he said, "No, lest
while you gather up the tares you also uproot the
wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until
the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will
say to the reapers, "First gather together the
tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but
gather the wheat into my barn.""'

54
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
  •     (B) 31Another parable He put forth to them,
saying "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard
seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,
32which indeed is the least of all the seeds but
when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and
becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come
    and nest in its branches."

55
The Parable of the Leaven
  •     (C) 33Another parable He spoke to them "The
kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman
took and hid in three measures of meal till it
was all leavened."     Prophecy and the
Parables     34All these things Jesus spoke to
the multitude in parables and without a parable
He did not speak to them, 35that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
saying        "I will open My mouth in
parables        I will utter things kept secret
from the foundation of the world."b

56
The Parable of the Tares Explained
  •     36Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went
into the house. And His disciples came to Him,
saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares
of the field."     37He answered and said to
them "He who sows the good seed is the Son of
Man. 38The field is the world, the good seeds are
the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the
sons of the wicked one. 39The enemy who sowed
them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the
age, and the reapers are the angels. 40Therefore
as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire,
so it will be at the end of this age. 41The Son
of Man will send out His angels, and they will
gather out of His kingdom all things that offend,
and those who practice lawlessness, 42and will
cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be
wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the
righteous will shine forth as the sun in the
kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear,
    let him hear!

57
Matthew 1619
  • 19And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
    will be loosed in heaven."

58
Matthew 229-10
  • 9Therefore go into the highways, and as many as
you find, invite to the wedding.' 10So those
servants went out into the highways and gathered
together all whom they found, both bad and good.
And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

59
Matthew 2414 (Hasten the Return of Jesus)
  • 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached
in all the world as a witness to all the
nations, and then the end will come.

60
Matthew 2818-20
  • 18And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on
earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all
the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even
to the end of the age." Amen.

Luke 101-18 The Seventy Sent Out
  •   Sending the Seventy the Good Samaritan    1
After these things the Lord appointed seventy
others also,a and sent them two by two before
His face into every city and place where He
Himself was about to go. 2Then He said to them,
"The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are
few therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to
send out laborers into His harvest. 3Go your way
behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
4Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals
and greet no one along the road. 5But whatever
house you enter, first say, "Peace to this
house.' 6And if a son of peace is there, your
peace will rest on it if not, it will return to
you. 7And remain in the same house, eating and
drinking such things as they give, for the
laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from
house to house. 8Whatever city you enter, and
they receive you, eat such things as are set
before you. 9And heal the sick there, and say to
them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
10But whatever city you enter, and they do not
receive you, go out into its streets and say,
11"The very dust of your city which clings to
usb we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know
this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.'
12Butc I say to you that it will be more
tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that
city.     Woe to the Impenitent Cities    (A)
13"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty works which were done in you
had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have
repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and
ashes. 14But it will be more tolerable for Tyre
and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15And
you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will
    be brought down to Hades.d

62
Luke 101-16
  • 16He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you
rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who
    sent Me."
  • The Seventy Return with Joy    17Then the
seventye returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even
the demons are subject to us in Your name."
18And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like
    lightning from heaven.

63
Luke 2446-53
  • 46Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and
thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer
and to risea from the dead the third day,
47and that repentance and remission of sins
should be preached in His name to all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem. 48And you are witnesses
of these things. 49Behold, I send the Promise of
My Father upon you but tarry in the city of
Jerusalemb until you are endued with power
    from on high."
  • The Ascension    (A) 50And He led them out as
far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and
blessed them. 51Now it came to pass, while He
blessed them, that He was parted from them and
carried up into heaven. 52And they worshiped Him,
and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53and
were continually in the temple praising andc
    blessing God. Amen.

64
John 1411-12
  • 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and
the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I
do not speak on My own authority but the Father
who dwells in Me does the works. 11Believe Me
that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or
else believe Me for the sake of the works
    themselves.     The Answered Prayer    12"Most
assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me,
the works that I do he will do also and greater
works than these he will do, because I go to My
Father. 13And whatever you ask in My name, that
I will do, that the Father may be glorified in
    the Son.

65
John 157-8,16
  • 7If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire, and it shall be
done for you. 8By this My Father is glorified,
that you bear much fruit so you will be My
disciples.15No longer do I call you servants,
for a servant does not know what his master is
doing but I have called you friends, for all
things that I heard from My Father I have made
    known to you.

66
  • 16You did not choose Me, but I chose you and
appointed you that you should go and bear fruit,
and that your fruit should remain, that whatever
you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
17These things I command you, that you love one
    another.

67
John 1715
  • 13But now I come to You, and these things I speak
in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled
in themselves. 14I have given them Your word and
the world has hated them because they are not of
the world, just as I am not of the world. 15I do
not pray that You should take them out of the
world, but that You should keep them from the
    evil one.

68
John 2021
  • 19Then, the same day at evening, being the first
day of the week, when the doors were shut where
the disciples were assembled,c for fear of the
Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said
to them, "Peace be with you." 20When He had said
this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then
the disciples were glad when they saw the
Lord.21So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to
you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
22And when He had said this, He breathed on
them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23If you forgive the sins of any, they are
forgiven them if you retain the sins of any,
    they are retained."

69
Acts 18
  • 7And He said to them, "It is not for you to know
times or seasons which the Father has put in His
own authority. 8 But you shall receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you
shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Jesus Ascends to Heaven    (A) 9Now when He
had spoken these things, while they watched, He
was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of
    their sight.

Acts 2
  • Acts 2Coming of the Holy Spirit    Peter's
Sermon the Coming of the Holy Spirit    1 When
the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were
all with one accorda in one place. 2And
suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole
house where they were sitting. 3Then there
appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and
one sat upon each of them. 4And they were all
filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
    utterance.     The Crowd's Response    5And
there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout
men, from every nation under heaven. 6And when
this sound occurred, the multitude came together,
and were confused, because everyone heard them
speak in his own language. 7Then they were all
amazed and marveled, saying to one another,
"Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
8And how is it that we hear, each in our own
language in which we were born? 9Parthians and
Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in
Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and
Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the
parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from
Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11Cretans and
Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues
the wonderful works of God." 12So they were all
amazed and perplexed, saying to one another,
"Whatever could this mean?"     13Others mocking
said, "They are full of new wine."     Peter's
Sermon    (A) 14But Peter, standing up with the
eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men
of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this
be known to you, and heed my words. 15For these
are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only
the third hour of the day. 16But this is what was
spoken by the prophet Joel        17"And it
shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all
flesh        Your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy,        Your young men shall see
visions,        Your old men shall dream dreams.
18And on My menservants and on My
maidservants        I will pour out My Spirit in
those days        And they shall prophesy.
19I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.        20The
sun shall be turned into darkness,        And
the moon into blood,        Before the coming of
the great and awesome day of the LORD.
21And it shall come to pass        That whoever
calls on the name of the LORD        Shall be
saved.'b         22"Men of Israel, hear these
words Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God
to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God
did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves
also know-- 23Him, being delivered by the
determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you
have takenc by lawless hands, have crucified,
and put to death 24whom God raised up, having
loosed the pains of death, because it was not
possible that He should be held by it. 25For
David says concerning Him        "I foresaw the
LORD always before my face,        For He is at
my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was
glad        Moreover my flesh also will rest in
hope.        27For You will not leave my soul in
Hades,        Nor will You allow Your Holy One
to see corruption.        28You have made known
to me the ways of life        You will make me
full of joy in Your presence.'d
29"Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you
of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and
buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that
God had sworn with an oath to him that of the
fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He
would raise up the Christ to sit on his
    throne,e 31he, foreseeing this, spoke
concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that
His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh
see corruption. 32This Jesus God has raised up,
of which we are all witnesses. 33Therefore being
exalted to the right hand of God, and having
received from the Father the promise of the Holy
Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and
hear.     34"For David did not ascend into the
heavens, but he says himself        "The LORD
said to my Lord,        "Sit at My right hand,
35Till I make Your enemies Your
    footstool."'f         36"Therefore let all
the house of Israel know assuredly that God has
made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord
and Christ."     37Now when they heard this,
they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and
the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what
shall we do?"     38Then Peter said to them,
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in
the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your
children, and to all who are afar off, as many as
the Lord our God will call."     A Vital Church
Grows    40And with many other words he
testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved
from this perverse generation." 41Then those who
gladlyg received his word were baptized and
that day about three thousand souls were added to
them. 42And they continued steadfastly in the
apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43Then fear
came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs
were done through the apostles. 44Now all who
believed were together, and had all things in
common, 45and sold their possessions and goods,
and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
46So continuing daily with one accord in the
temple, and breaking bread from house to house,
they ate their food with gladness and simplicity
of heart, 47praising God and having favor with
all the people. And the Lord added to the
churchh daily those who were being saved.

Acts 2
  •    1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all
the house where they were sitting.    3And there
appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of
fire, and it sat upon each of them.    4And they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to
speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance.    5And there were dwelling at
Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation
under heaven.    6Now when this was noised
abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them
speak in his own language.    7And they were all
amazed and marvelled, saying one to another,
Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers
of Rome, Jews and proselytes,    11Cretes and
Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues
the wonderful works of God.    12And they were
all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to
another, What meaneth this?    13Others mocking
said, These men are full of new wine.    14But
Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his
voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and
all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known
unto you, and hearken to my words    15For
these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it
is but the third hour of the day.    16But this
is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel
17And it shall come to pass in the last days,
saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all

in those days of my Spirit and they shall
prophesy    19And I will shew wonders in heaven
above, and signs in the earth beneath blood, and
fire, and vapour of smoke    20The sun shall be
turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the great and notable day of the Lord
come    21And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord
shall be saved.    22Ye men of Israel, hear
these words Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of
God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,
which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
yourselves also know    23Him, being delivered
by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have
crucified and slain    24Whom God hath raised
up, having loosed the pains of death because it
was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25For David speaketh concerning him, I
foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is
on my right hand, that I should not be moved
26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my
tongue was glad moreover also my flesh shall
rest in hope    27Because thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine
Holy One to see corruption.    28Thou hast made
known to me the ways of life thou shalt make me
full of joy with thy countenance.    29Men and
brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the
patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried,
and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

72
  •    30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that
God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the
fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he
would raise up Christ to sit on his throne
31He seeing this before spake of the
resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not
left in hell, neither his flesh did see
corruption.    32This Jesus hath God raised up,
    whereof we all are witnesses.

73
  •    33Therefore being by the right hand of God
exalted, and having received of the Father the
promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth
this, which ye now see and hear.    34For David
is not ascended into the heavens but he saith
himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on
my right hand,    35Until I make thy foes thy
    footstool.

74
  •    36Therefore let all the house of Israel know
assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus,
whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37Now when they heard this, they were pricked
in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the
rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
    shall we do?

75
  •    38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.    39For the
promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD
our God shall call.    40And with many other
words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save
    yourselves from this untoward generation.
41Then they that gladly received his word
were baptized and the same day there were added
unto them about three thousand souls.

76
  •    42And they continued stedfastly in the
apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers.    43And fear
came upon every soul and many wonders and signs
were done by the apostles.    44And all that
believed were together, and had all things
common    45And sold their possessions and
goods, and parted them to all men, as every man
had need.    46And they, continuing daily with
one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from
house to house, did eat their meat with gladness
and singleness of heart,    47Praising God, and
having favour with all the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily such as should be
saved.Acts 826-40 Christ Is Preached to an
Ethiopian    (A) 26Now an angel of the Lord
spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the
south along the road which goes down from
Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert. 27So he arose
and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch
of great authority under Candace the queen of the
Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury,
and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28was
returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was
reading Isaiah the prophet. 29Then the Spirit
said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this
chariot."     30So Philip ran to him, and heard
him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you
understand what you are reading?"     31And he
said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And
he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
32The place in the Scripture which he read was
this        "He was led as a sheep to the
slaughter        And as a lamb before its
shearer is silent,        So He opened not His
mouth.        33In His humiliation His justice
was taken away,        And who will declare His
generation?        For His life is taken from
the earth."a         34So the eunuch answered
Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the
prophet say this, of himself or of some other
man?" 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and
beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to
him. 36Now as they went down the road, they came
to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is
water. What hinders me from being baptized?"
37Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your
heart, you may."     And he answered and said,
"I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God."b     38So he commanded the chariot to
stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went
down into the water, and he baptized him. 39Now
when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of
the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch
saw him no more and he went on his way
rejoicing. 40But Philip was found at Azotus. And
passing through, he preached in all the cities
till he came to Caesarea.  26And the angel of
the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go
toward the south unto the way that goeth down
from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27And he arose and went and, behold, a man
of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under
Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the
charge of all her treasure, and had come to
Jerusalem for to worship,    28Was returning,
and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the
prophet.    29Then the Spirit said unto Philip,
Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard
him read the prophet Esaias, and said,
Understandest thou what thou readest?    31And
he said, How can I, except some man should guide
me? And he desired Philip that he would come up
and sit with him.    32The place of the
scripture which he read was this, He was led as a
sheep to the slaughter and like a lamb dumb
before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth
33In his humiliation his judgment was taken
away and who shall declare his generation? for
his life is taken from the earth.    34And the
eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of
whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of
some other man?    35Then Philip opened his
mouth, and began at the same scripture, and
preached unto him Jesus.    36And as they went
on their way, they came unto a certain water and
the eunuch said, See, here is water what doth
hinder me to be baptized?    37And Philip said,
If thou believest with all thine heart, thou
mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.    38And he
commanded the chariot to stand still and they
went down both into the water, both Philip and
the eunuch and he baptized him.    39And when
they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of
the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw
him no more and he went on his way rejoicing.
40But Philip was found at Azotus and passing
through he preached in all the cities, till he
    came to Caesarea.

Acts 1042-48
  • 42And He commanded us to preach to the people,
and to testify that it is He who was ordained by
God to be Judge of the living and the dead. 43To
Him all the prophets witness that, through His
name, whoever believes in Him will receive
    remission of sins."

  •     The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles
44While Peter was still speaking these words, the
Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the
word. 45And those of the circumcision who
believed were astonished, as many as came with
Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had
been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46For they
heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47"Can anyone forbid
water, that these should not be baptized who have
received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" 48And
he commanded them to be baptized in the name of
the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Acts 132-3
  • Acts 13Paul and Barnabas Are Sent to the
Gentiles    1 Now in the church that was at
Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers
Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of
Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod
the tetrarch, and Saul. 2As they ministered to
the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now
separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to
which I have called them." 3Then, having fasted
and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent
them away.     Preaching in Cyprus    4So,
being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down
to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to
Cyprus. 5And when they arrived in Salamis, they
preached the word of God in the synagogues of the
Jews. They also had John as their assistant.

Romans 1011-13
  • 11For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on
Him will not be put to shame."f 12For there is
no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the
same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon
Him. 13For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD
    shall be saved."g

    Romans 1014-15
  • Israel Rejects the Gospel    14How then shall
they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in Him of whom they
have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they
are sent? As it is written        "How
beautiful are the feet of those who preach the
gospel of peace,h        Who bring glad
    tidings of good things!"i

    Romans 1016-18
  •     16But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Isaiah says, "LORD, who has believed our
report?"j 17So then faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.     18But I say,
have they not heard? Yes indeed        "Their
sound has gone out to all the earth,        And
their words to the ends of the world."

Ephesians 31-11
  • The Mystery Revealed    The Gentiles Are Fellow
Heirs    1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner
of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles-- 2if indeed you
have heard of the dispensation of the grace of
God which was given to me for you, 3how that by
revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I
have briefly written already, 4by which, when you
read, you may understand my knowledge in the
mystery of Christ), 5which in other ages was not
made known to the sons of men, as it has now been
revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and
prophets 6that the Gentiles should be fellow
heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His
promise in Christ through the gospel, 7of which I
became a minister according to the gift of the
grace of God given to me by the effective working
    of His power.

Ephesians 31-11
  • Purpose of the Mystery    8To me, who am less
than the least of all the saints, this grace was
given, that I should preach among the Gentiles
the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9and to make
all see what is the fellowshipa of the mystery,
which from the beginning of the ages has been
hidden in God who created all things through
Jesus Christb 10to the intent that now the
manifold wisdom of God might be made known by
the church to the principalities and powers in
the heavenly places, 11according to the eternal
purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus
    our Lord,

1 Thessalonians 18
  • 6And you became followers of us and of the Lord,
having received the word in much affliction, with
joy of the Holy Spirit, 7so that you became
examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who
believe. 8For from you the word of the Lord has
sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia,
but also in every place. Your faith toward God
has gone out, so that we do not need to say
anything. 9For they themselves declare concerning
us what manner of entry we had to you, and how
you turned to God from idols to serve the living
and true God, 10and to wait for His Son from
heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus
who delivers us from the wrath to come.

2 Timothy 45
  • 1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord
Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the
dead ata His appearing and His kingdom 2Preach
the word! Be ready in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering
and teaching. 3For the time will come when they
will not endure sound doctrine, but according to
their own desires, because they have itching
ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers
4and they will turn their ears away from the
truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5But you
be watchful in all things, endure afflictions,
do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your
    ministry.

Hebrews 21-3
  • Do Not Neglect Salvation        1 Therefore we
must give the more earnest heed to the things we
have heard, lest we drift away. 2For if the word
spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every
transgression and disobedience received a just
reward, 3how shall we escape if we neglect so
great a salvation, which at the first began to be
spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by
those who heard Him, 4God also bearing witness
both with signs and wonders, with various
miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according
    to His own will?

88
Hebrews 1139-122
  • 32And what more shall I say? For the time would
fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson
and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the
prophets 33who through faith subdued kingdoms,
    worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped
the mouths of lions, 34quenched the violence of
fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of
weakness were made strong, became valiant in
battle, turned to flight the armies of the
aliens. 35Women received their dead raised to
life again. Others were tortured, not
accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a
better resurrection. 36Still others had trial of
mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and
imprisonment. 37They were stoned, they were sawn
in two, were tempted,f were slain with the
sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and
    goatskins, being destitute, afflicted,
tormented-- 38of whom the world was not worthy.
They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens
and caves of the earth.     39And all these,
having obtained a good testimony through faith,
did not receive the promise, 40God having
provided something better for us, that they
should not be made perfect apart from us.

Hebrews 12
  •     1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded
by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight, and the sin which so easily
ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the
race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus,
the author and finisher of our faith, who for the
joy that was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and has sat down at the
right hand of the throne of God.

1 Peter 24-10
  • The Chosen Stone and His Chosen People
  •     4Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected
indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
5you also, as living stones, are being built up a
spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up
spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ. 6Therefore it is also contained in
the Scripture,        "Behold, I lay in Zion
           A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no
means be put to shame."b         7Therefore,
to you who believe, He is precious but to those
who are disobedient,c        "The stone which
the builders rejected        Has become the
    chief cornerstone,"d         8and        "A
stone of stumbling        And a rock of
    offense."e         They stumble, being
disobedient to the word, to which they also were
    appointed.

The Church in Gods Program
  •     9But you are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, His own special
people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him
who called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light 10who once were not a people but are now
the people of God, who had not obtained mercy
    but now have obtained mercy.
  • Living Before the World    11Beloved, I beg you
as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts which war against the soul, 12having your
conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when
they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by
your good works which they observe, glorify God
    in the day of visitation.

1 Peter 315
  • But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and
be ready always to give an answer to every
man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is
in you with meekness and fear

behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is
with Me, to give to every one according to his

Beginning and the End, the First and the
Last."f     14Blessed are those who do His
commandments,g that they may have the right to
the tree of life, and may enter through the gates
into the city. 15Buth outside are dogs and
sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and
