Introduction

• This unit plan includes lesson plans for five
  days.
• Each lesson plan is built around the same theme
  of Apples.
• It was designed as a cross-curriculum unit plan
  that includes subjects such as Math, Language
  Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Art.

Analyze Learners

• The lesson plans included in this unit are geared
  toward children who are 4 to 6 years of age.
• The unit plan was designed for a normal
  Kindergarten class with no special
  characteristics.
• The Autumn months of the school year would be the
  best time to use this unit plan.

West Virginia State Objectives

• MA.K.1.1 - count forward to 20 and backward from
  10 with and without objects.
• MA.K.2.1 - sort and classify objects by one
  attribute.
• SC.K.5.1 - observe the uses of tools and
  appliances at home and play.

• RLA.K.1.6 - identify level appropriate sight
  words and vocabulary words ( e.g. color words
  number words positional words - top, bottom, in,
  out high frequency words - I, it words for
  persons, places, things and actions.
• RLA.K.1.10 - establish a purpose for reading
  (e.g. for information, for pleasure).

• VA.K.1.5 - use two-dimensional and
  three-dimensional media safely and responsibly.
• SS.K.5.4 - explore the past through stories of
  people, heroes, pictures, songs, holidays,
  customs, traditions and legends.

  website completely dedicated to apples and apple
  lessons that teachers can use. I used it to get
  an apple sauce recipe.

  This is a webquest about apples that I used in
  one of my lesson plans.

• www.123child.com/fall/apple.html - this site has
  many apple activities that parents or teachers
  could use. I got an idea about making the apple
  seed shakers or maracas from this site.
• www.libsci.sc.edu/miller/fruitveg.htm - this is a
  site that has cross-curriculum lesson plans about
  fruits and vegetable. I used it to find a science
  activity with apple seeds.

• Making of an Apple Tree
• Students will use their hands and paint to make
  the leaves on the apple tree
• They will also glue on apple cut-outs to our
  apple tree
