7NWE NS Results from 1st call
- North Sea Programme
- 2 of the 10 submitted projects were provisionally
successful, one was UK led. -
- 1. NMU led by Napier University, Edinburgh.
- Other UK partner in this is Pantrak, a ltd based
in Lanarkshire. -
- 2. Stratmos. A Norwegian led project with the
following UK partners - 1. Spedition Services Ltd (Surrey) 2.University
of Hull 3. Aberdeenshire Council 4. Aberdeen City
Council 5. Napier University (Edinburgh) 6.
Scrabster Harbour Trust (Scotland). -

- North West Europe Programme
- 9 of the 28 projects were provisionally approved,
one of which was UK led. Successful projects were
as follows -
- 1. Regain, Belgium led with the following UK
partners - 1. Blaenau Gwent Council 2. Scottish Enterprises.

- 2. FITT, Luxembourg led with no UK partners.

- 3. WAVE, Dutch led with one UK partner Somerset
County Council.
8NORTH SEA, NORTH WEST EUROPE SECOND CALL FOR
PROJECTS ATLANTIC AREA FIRST CALL
- North Sea 2nd Call open since 18 Feb 2008.
- Closes 17 March 2008.
- North Sea Steering Committee scheduled for the
end of May 2008. - North West Europe 2nd call opens 7 April closes 9
- May 2008.
- Atlantic Area 1st Call opens 17 March closes 12
- May 2008
9Interreg IVC First Call for Projects
- First Call for Projects closed on 22 Feb 2008
- Programmes Secretariat is now undertaking the
eligibility check and quality - assessment tasks.
- Given the high number of applications received
(492), this process is expected to - continue until June 2008.
- Ineligible project applicants can expect
notification from early March. However - decision on accepted projects, due to the high
volume involved, will be postponed - until after June 2008.
- This will have an impact on the launch of the
second call for proposals. - Originally scheduled for Summer 2008, it is
likely that this launch will now take - place in Autumn 2008.

10DIFFERENCES FROM INTERREG IIIB PROGRAMMES.
- Greater emphasis on the Lisbon and Gothenburg
Agendas - Innovation is a key theme running through the
programme. - Move away from spatial planning strategies and
actions - which will be covered by ESPON and INTERACT
- NEW STRAND B PROJECTS SHOULD BE
- Policy led on competitiveness and sustainable
- development
- Strategic strong links to EU, national and
- regional policy objectives
- Concrete with tangible results
- Focused- so they have strong impact
11UK First Level Control for new Interreg Programmes
- The UK will adopt a de-centralised control system
for all the - Interreg Programmes.
- The beneficiary (Project partner) will propose an
independent - controller, who is then authorised at
national level on the - basis of a list of approved professional
bodies - before the first - expenditure is reported and certified
- In order to be appointed/ approved a controller
will also have to - declare his/her ability to deliver his work
within the requested - time frames. Deadlines will be set for the
controllers with the - letter that is appointing them/ with the
declaration they have to - sign for being appointed as such

12UK Second Level Control for new Interreg
Programmes
- The Audit Authority will be based in Corporate
Delivery Group, in the - department for Communities and Local Government
- Project activities including project approval and
monitoring of delivery of - the products and services will be carried out
by Devolved regional and - national administrations
- Project Finances including verification of
project expenditure will be - carried out by external or internal (ie
independent but employed by the - same body as the project partner), qualified
auditors or accountants, - with guidance and/or monitoring assurance
carried out by European - Policy and Programmes Division.
